Damn, I heard about this and really hoped it wasn't true. Someone told me it at the start of the season and you could really see something was up.

Heard this but didn't want to think it actually happened.

Very sad for the whole family.

What a sad story, fair play to him and his girlfriend for going public with it. I can't imagine what it feels like going through something like that, and just makes me so thankful that Jacob arrived without many problems.

This was certainly alluded to in the other thread a few weeks back.

Its sad, sad news and my condolence go out to Bianca, Charlie and their families.

Oh - and am I the only one who finds 'interesting' a rather odd way to describe the story!??!

Yes surely "Sad Charlie Austin Story" would be more appropriate.

It would be nice for those that can afford it to make a donation, however small.

Nobody should have to bury their child, sad story but brave of Charlie & Bianca to speak publically about it

You are absolutely right guys, it is incredibly sad.  Wrong word used.  Many appologies.

Very sad indeed. It must have been tough for Charlie to carry on playing football through that.

I would hope that all those cunts who were sniffing around for "dirt" on the bloke are now thoroughly ashamed of themselves..

Poor guy, must've been hard to play with this on his mind. That's why it's not right slag off players, you don't know what's going on in their lives. Eg LJF losing his sister and this too. Who knows maybe Rose and Pericard could be going through something similar. People should think about that before they demoralise their own players.

Something annoyed me on facebook today (like most days) some guy offering Charlie his condolences on one of the Austin fan pages, is the same guy that was on the same page months ago spouting shit about him and had revelations ready to be revealed.

I can't get over the fact there are such pathetic cunts out there.

Sad News indeed,my daughter had a similar thing....two years on she still isn't over it.
The guy has been a breath of fresh air.....i had heard some rumours.
My feeling is we are heading for the Championship in the next few years.........if he wanted to become a Swindon legend then his wish could be granted easily....young enough for another ten years here.............thats a lot of goals.

Shit news for Charlie and his missus.

This happened to a mate a few years back. Took him a long time to come to terms with it.

Probably done them both some good with it going public now. Hope their charity gig gets well supported.

Speaking from experience - but not specifically of cerebal palsey. Time is a great healer, although its something that will stick with the couple for the rest of their lives. Grief changes from completely consuming you to fading to a series of melancholic moments on anniversaries and when something reminds you of what might have been. I feel for them.

Awful thing to happen to anyone. Fair play to both of them for trying to generate something positive out of it. Takes some guts.

That's really sad.

I guess it's not a thing you ever really get over, you just learn to live with the memories.

Let's hope they both have many happy memories together in the future.

Anybody on the TEF Fancy doing somthing just to show we support him? Maybe a little whipround and somebody could present it at a game towards the charity of his choice? (Probally scope)

A "who smelled it, dealt it" Idea I reckon. Looks like you're organising. If it's got legs count me in.

Following on from the fund raising we did for that Leeds Utd kid last season being such a success, I've been planning to suggest we do something similar this season. This would seem to give us a good cause to raise some money for.

Just a whip round or something a bit more involved? Would be nice if we could do it in tandem with another forum like we did with Leeds, maybe pick one of our upcoming home games and see if we can sort something out? Maybe a fund raising event with Poole Town fans?

I'm happy to help out with whatever we do.

I would like to help as well please.

Knock the idea down if you want but for an upcoming game how about Bristol Rovers? National coverage so may get a mention on sky and people watching may then donate as well? Just a thought.

I think they're holding their fund raising event around Halloween so I'd suggest we aim to complete our fund raising before then, which still gives us a good few weeks.

We need to decide what we're doing though. Sounds like a joint whip round with the Poole Town forum is a popular idea. If we go with it, we'll need to contact them to see if they're up for it - is it stfcinbmth that hangs out there? Or is someone else a member there?

Once we agree and get Poole on board, I'll start a new thread for the collecting of funds. Don't want to tread on any toes so as Crispy suggested it first if he wants to run with it I'll step aside, but still help out where necessary (I think there was a few of us collecting last time which worked well).
