as if their greatness needed underlining, my nan told me yesterday that she only buys the Buckingham Herald so she can read about what building work people are having done and who's in court for what.

Some old people are so sweet, and you know you've made their day when you have held a door open for them or something. others are just plain grumpy and rude and i dont like them.

A bit on the grumpy side......although I think its a mask for a soft and squidgy interior.

soft and sqidgy...i love that word squidgy...

The single prong of a fork is known as a tine.....there's not a lot of opportunity for using the word.

Post by: Marie on Saturday, June 18, 2005, 01:07:02
yeah but surely the word for a single prong of a fork is a prong?

You'd have thought so but it merits its own term......I'd be good on Call My Bluff.

I like the onomatopoeic word gunky.

yeah i reckon so...i watched supermarket sweep today. i'd be good at that game i reckon. why did they stop making it?

If you watched it...don't they still make it?....however  if you watched it on UK Gold or something.....then you'd be part of an elite group.

Entering game shows is worth persuing you can make some decent money.

I rate the Chuckle Bros.....winning prizes is good though.....someone has to win this stuff.

 Challenge TV has escaped me.

If you take it a bit seriously....there's money to be made.....the producers of these shows especially like female contestants because they tend to be in the minority.

Young helps as well....because its mostly slightly older people who bother.

If you're black, then its a shoo in to big bucks. ( I know you're not like Dex)

Judging from Reg's tales I'd imagine he's had more female connections than most of us put together  8)

I'm going to slip the word tine into a conversation.  Although how should it be pronounced?

Like "time" but with an "n"
or "teen" ?

Old people are superb. Unfortunately I no longer have any grandparents to marvel at anymore

My nan who died about 18 months ago had alzheimers. Before she moved into a home up here we had to go down and visit quite regularly.

One time my brother had cat slippers (if you understand) and my nan thought they were real and spent 20 minutes stroking and chatting to my brother's slippers!
