You just need to allow a bit of time for the windy roads the other side of Cheltenham, and if time is on your side there are some superb country pubs all along there. Reminds me of driving through those flooded roads the last time we played there - on a Friday night when Ifil thwacked one into the top corner. Reminds me of driving through those flooded roads the last time we played there - on a Friday night when Ifil thwacked one into the top corner. Yeah, scary drive home. We got blocked on a road back by a lorry that couldn't get through the flood. Had to find an alternative route through the countryside. Got back home very late. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: One F In Fitton on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 19:16:58 Yeah, scary drive home. We got blocked on a road back by a lorry that couldn't get through the flood. Had to find an alternative route through the countryside. Got back home very late. Looks like we got lucky then. It was bad enough on the way in......then it continued to piss down......I'd more or less accepted that we were stuck in Hereford for the night. That night was also the best I ever saw Marshall play, by a country mile. He tore them to shreds when he came on. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Bogus Dave on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 19:25:44 I don't remember much of that match. The catering is only one component of the misery. The stand that was knicked from a farm yard and the overpowering hostile coppers are a couple more. Never again. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 20:53:15 No hot water (no tea, coffee, etc). No working oven, so half frozen pies etc.
Basically all you could have was bottled coke or crisps. So if you are completely mental enough to finnish work at 4 and head straight up there without any food, dont think you can get anything in the ground. Because you wont. Hereford are notorious for it. Even their own fans say its beyond a joke. They shut the food bar before half time that friday night. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Crispy on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 20:53:35 The catering is only one component of the misery. Coppers/Stewards were terible at leeds so that i should be able to cope with, but no decent foot :( Mix that in with the fact that if i go some kid from shrewsburys threatening to beat me up, should be a good day! I guess teams with a reputation do have coppers at pre-season? Title: Re: Hereford Post by: One F In Fitton on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 21:43:33 Because the terrace is such a joke (not really a decent view anywhere) grab a seat, it's dead steep & a superb view, if a little cramped.
And the catering......another reason to stop in one of the pubs I mentioned, if you have time of course. Plus I remember an excellent chippy in a rather posh residential area that we drove through, on your left just as you enter Hereford. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: herthab on Thursday, July 15, 2010, 21:48:12 I love Hereford's away end! Proper old school, split with a fence between home and away fans.

I know what you mean, but as I'm a little older now & I've done all that (like I'm sure we all have), I like a bit more comfort & a decent view of what's happening these days. Looking forward to Peterborough's terrace again this season though, that's much more like it. Going completely off-subject - anyone remember those Cambridge fans (with their anti-Peterborough songs) that joined us in there a few years ago? Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, July 16, 2010, 21:17:22 Fucking Pericard, You would think he would be determined to do well considering it's a make or break season for him, He could slide down the leagues if he fails to perform again this season. Looking forward to Wilson bringing in an experienced striker as i don't think Pericard's going to cut it, He's been poor in both friendlies by the sounds of it, I thought he would be busting a gut and trying to impress Wilson and show what he can do. I'm judging him on his performance against Supermarine and what i have heard about him tonight, I've also spoken to someone who said he's playing cack. You made it to the Supermarine game all the way from Yorkshire did you, when you couldn't even get to Wembley for our biggest game of the decade? Let's fucking have this right. If you didn't go to the game, then you don't have a valid opinion about how Pericard played. You're always jumping on players backs with no reasoning what-so-ever. I think if there's something about him then why not go for a loan? Suits both teams really. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, July 16, 2010, 21:25:13 I don't have a clue i thought it was a loan but wilson did say that these players are for the future so fuck knows

It could be any player. The problem is people giving their opinions on players when they have not actually seen them for themselves. Like when they have been listening to the commentary on the radio and text in and say, "Ooooh, so and so was crap today". It's moronic. Maybe PoW is justified in his criticism if Pericard did not attend? FWIW it does seem to me that PoW has a very negative opinion about most things ... even though I've never seen him/her speak. I think Pericard will come good, he's never had a run of 90 min games. Yeah he's looked pretty ponderous when he's come on as a sub, but I've seen glimpses of some good stuff and I thought he did well against charlton in the playoffs when he came on in the 1st leg. ("yeah, but he missed that header at the end...winge winge..." - yes I know, fuck off) Unfortunately I think a lot of his sub appearances have coinceded with a situation when we're searching for an equaliser and the pressure is on, not good if you're trying to work your way into a team. He could score ten in a season if he's given a chance, just my opinion is all. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: Sippo on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:01:00 No-one was ever going to break the paynter-austin partnership. It was just too good. Big vince just needs a goal for his confidence. But I still don't think he'll be a starter at the beginning of the season.

Paynter and Austin were an awesome partnership, and I think we'll being saying the same about Austin and Ball - hopefully - I think Vince will have a bigger part to play as they're both young lads and won't be able to play week-in-week out. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: leefer on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 10:24:24 If you look at Pericards goal to game ratio it is very poor...dont expect bags off goals from him,he will be used more as a player who will unsettle a team and maybe create opportunities for the more natural finishers.
Paynters goal scoring record wasnt great when he joined us so lets hope Pericard can take a leaf out of his book. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: One F In Fitton on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 17:23:17 On the Hereford United team are: O'Neil Thompson and Samba Kanoute. Which just makes me think that we are past 2018 and Football Manager had started making up names. Your avatar is absolutely fucking superb. So much so, in fact, that I felt the need to post this comment. So good choice, and may you prosper. Title: Re: Hereford Post by: A Gent Orange on Saturday, July 17, 2010, 17:47:45 And you too Mr F. It is amazing what you can find on Google. By accident.
