After the drinking excesses bought about by an excuse as convenient as the world cup, I've decided that it's time to commence on a week of no drinking to let my insides recover somewhat.

Any tefers going to join me in a support network of temporary sobriety?

Anyway.

Day1 - Monday.

Never going to be too tough. Normally don't drink mondays anyway.

Biggest temptations will come from popping in to say hello and grab a cheeky spanish half when I've finished work, which I normally follow on with a cheeky couple of pints in the pub on my wander home.

Tonight and tomorrow probably won't be too tough, but Wednesday for some reason has become a bit of a traditional ill-advised drink too much day for me, same (but more understandably so) on Fridays.

I'll join you in the no drink club. I went out saturday and can't afford to drink anymore? And I have no-one to drink with so it seems a good excuse.

  Your regular regime seems a bit light weight, I'd suggest upping your intake rather than lowering.

Save some money. Go a week getting a decent amount of proper sleep, and not being knackered at work. Generally just defuzz the world for a while.

Fair enough. A week's not really much of an effort though, that's what I meant :)

Probably lose a bit of weight as well. I havent been at Uni for about 6 weeks now and hence not drinking properly and Im already onto my next belt notch

I hardly ever drink, so I'll join you, but will do the opposite.

Tonight I'm going to ease my way into alcoholism, with 1 can of Carlsberg. I may have a second if I start to feel real crazy after the first.

I've not had a drink since the England vs Germany game, I am going until the end of July without having a drink just to see if I can, it's pretty easy....so far.

A week?  Pah!  My annual No Beer January fixture laughs in the face of your week long effort.  Still, good luck.  On a serious note, I think you'll be sleeping a lot better by the end of the week.

This weekend I'll be heading to Sunny Suffolk for my first stag weekend for a long time.  So I won't be joining you in your soberfest.

Day Two

Failed. 5 pints down and about to crack open a bottle of wine. What sort of stupid idea was this?

I've only got £20 to last me the rest of the week which will have to mean a few more off days than usual. I'm sure I'll cope.

FINALLY an explanation. Probably about 20 years ago I saw Craig Ferguson live, he was supporting Harry Enfield on his 'Loadsamoney' tour. He just rambled and wittered on and on and on and on......just a load of very unfunny nonsense......it seems that he was wankered.

I have to drive up the library to use the internet every night though so I aint suprised i'm managing better than ben. If I can do better than IBIMR though i'll be suprised. Very suprised.

I'll see how the week goes. I haven't touched the stuff for ages, and it's really something that your insides have to build up a resiliance too. Going back fresh on a heavy session may actually disolve me inside out.

You could go for a 2L bottle, rather than a 3L as a loosener....

I've been on antibiotics for the past 5 weeks and I can honestly say I've never felt worse. Conclusive proof that not drinking is bad few you.

I just remembered that the tef user known as 'Spy' owes me £20 due to a stupid drunken bet.

Unfortunately for me, I think he's done enough for me over the years so I'd feel bad pressuring him to pay up.

Nah it's alright dude. You keep it. Take it as payback for all those times I stayed with you in Brizzle when I was skint. And then maybe buy me a pint next time I see you in exchange for not rinsing you as much as I could have done.

You can drink with most antibiotics. Well it doesn't say not on most of them.

The ones I'm currently on say I shouldn't expose my skin to direct sunlight. They also specifically say do not consume alcohol. It's shit.

You're fukkin unlucky there - I was on antibiotics recently, & when I asked the doc he said there is only 1 specific type that you cannot drink alcohol with - all of the others are fine. He was actually quite bemused that it is so frequently spoken about. 

Day 20 of my dry July (liver rest before the season starts). A fridge full of Hobgoblin awaits. Only 11 days to go  :(

Heh I hate all of the greenie bollocks propaganda. I had the gas boiler serviced last week and the engineer went on and on about our carbon footprint, higher efficiency boilers, CO2 blah blah blah.In the end I told him to shut up or fuck off.

I can't be the only one on tenterhooks - did he shut up or fuck off?  Was your boiler fully serviced?  The people are waiting, Talk Talk.
