Title: FAO Postie-types
Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, July 8, 2010, 11:35:17
I'm supposed to be having a package delivered today. The company I've ordered from assure me it will be delivered by 6pm tonight.

They've given me the tracking number, when entered on the RM website I get a message: "We received item XXX at West Swindon DO on the 2010-07-08. The item is now ready for delivery."

If they only received it today, are they likely to deliver it to me today?

Should do. Is it special delivery, or just a signed for? Haveyou had your post delivered yet? If its not a big package it'll get delivered with your normal post, if not it'll be on the back of a van.

Depends what time they got it and whether or not it was first class.

If it is first class then you might get it today if it arrived before 6amish.

If they got it after that or its second class it will go out tomorrow

Ish. Nothing concrete.

It'll be a fairly large package so should come on a van. Usually when we get parcels that way the van turns up before 8am.

Don't think it's Special Delivery (tracking number starts FF).

I need it today, won't be best pleased if it doesn't turn up. Although it's probably more BT's fault than Royal Mail.
