Title: Post game blues.
Post by: Benzel on Monday, May 31, 2010, 17:10:15
Anyone else feeling down in the dumps still? I feel really flat. Gutted, saw the front of the adver today and it's so painful.

I'm getting over it now. Saturday i was a mess, but a few more bevvies with the friends when i got home, helped sort me out! I still couldn't face reading the Adver today though, although i did glimpse at the back page which made me think 'Oh fuck, here we go again...' but i'm sure it was 'heat of the moment' talk, as people on here have suggested.

I'm now looking forward to pre season! Can't wait to see what changes we make. Not many are needed, but the ones we do make will be crucial.

STFC!!

I would be down if we played well, but Millwall deserved to win no doubt.

i watched the game again earlier.we were dire.our usual set up in the familiar formation was no match for millwall as i had feared.
it shows we still have some way to go to get out of league 1.

Still hurts.  Will until the first day of next season!

I'm not really an international football fan and couldn't really give two hoots who wins the world cup (It's Swindon all the way).  So the world cup doesnt even come close to cushioning the blow!

Looking forward to pre season and all the bizzare transfer speculation and mysterious trialists away at supermarine. I think it's my favourite part of the year.

I suppose it's a few things. Gutted we weren't up to our best. Still pissed with the lack of support around me and my mates and a few pockets in our block. I really feel for our young players too and am incensed that some cunt had the nerve to berate Charlie when the team were out.

I guess I'd be worse if I thought we deserved something. Although that pitch cost Charlie, twice.

Looking forward to transfers and the world cup, so I guess it'll be ok.

I also think we'll do well next season. Just gutted about my first play off final experience tbh.

Still feeling a bit down, but feeling much better.

Lots to look forward to: World Cup, exciting pre-season and transfer speculation. I am really looking forward to next season, so i'm already starting to forget Saturday and i'm getting excited already.

Hurting at how far second best we were.

No regrets? I think there is going to be quite a few.

im more dissapointed we didnt turn up (players or fans) on the day than the result. if we'd lost in a thriller we would of least had a good time

I'm obviously in the minority in that I haven't felt down at all, I was pretty happy right after the final whistle.

The season was a success, we did far better than I expected and I got to go to Wembley. More important is that I feel the best I have about the club since Gorman was in charge - we're playing attractive football, got a great manager and chairman, a legend in the making up front, an upcoming stadium redevelopment, a decent kit made by Adidas, big name sponsors and so on.

What's to feel done about?

I wouldn't say I was gutted still. For me it wasn't so much the result that got me down it was the manner of the whole game. The lack of atmosphere and passion at times from the majority of our fans, the flat performance. Obviously it was gutting to lose the game but that's football and someone has to lose. We were never going to win every single play-off final we played in anyway so were we due one.

I've had to stop thinking about it to get over it though. Haven't looked at the Adver (other than the Fitton article) or watched much of the highlights (just seen their goal and Charlie's miss etc). But we move on. Let's look forward to a new CG, another challenge to get out of this league next season but before we do let's just kick back and enjoy the summer. Forget about football for a week or 2 until the WC gets under way. It'll all be a distant memory by August.

Theres only 1 football league club left with a 100% wembley record. You figure out which one.

I totally agree with everything you say, I've loved this season, it's been the best one in my lifetime, easily. But I'm just talking about the day itself really. When I think about the rest of the season, what's happened since the start of 08, then I really have no complaints at all.

I was and still am gutted but my day got even worse.

Got back from Wembley and went to my local to drown in my sorrows, stayed till closing time and decided to walk up to the kebab van which is the normal routine for a Saturday night. Walking along and a lad walks out of a house offering me a fight, i was not impressed and told him im not interested so i turned around to avoid any hassle only to be bottled across the back of the head. He then walks off leaving me with blood pissing out of my head. Didnt fancy spending Saturday night up A&E with all the other piss heads so went home to bed pretty unhappy.

Wake up with a blood covered pillow and see my Town shirt that id worn all day covered in blood too, not good.
Copper comes round to take a statement and calls a paramedic over to look at my head.
Copper then tells me he's a bloody Oxford supporter and took plessure in taking the piss which was really rubbing it in by then. I did ask if he'd enjoyed watching non league over the last few years!!

All in all a pretty shite weekend but would be nice if the cunt that thought he was hard by bottling me with my back turned gets caught. got a witness and the address so will wait and see.
Hope my blood washes out of my shirt!

Sorry about the essay!

That sounds awful fish man.

I was upset when the final whistle blew, and almost let a few tears slip. The journey back was miserable. Over it now though. The worlds still spinning, nobody died and when all's said and done it's still been a great season.

And the atmosphere was cracking ;)

I'm still really gutted. I'm nowhere near over it yet. Maybe when I get back into work tomorrow I'll start being a bit more rational. If we'd have stuffed them and got raped then it would be worse but we got what we deserve. I bet the players feel sick that they did not perform.

Fish head that is terrible, hope you are ok.

I wasn't feeling too bad about the game as we were second best in all departments and Millwall deserved to win.

That was until I saw the front of the adver today, and I couldn't help but shed a few tears in the middle of Tesco!

Yeah im ok thanks Bert and above posters. just means getting my haircut will have to wait a while now.

Seeing the fixture's come out and picking up my season ticket booklet will help put Saturday out of my mind,
look forward to the excitment leading up to the first game of 2010/11!

Glad you are OKish Fish Head.

My gloom is starting to lift a little. I am proud we got to Wembley but my heart still sinks at the lack bottle on the day and how it is a massive missed opportunity that may not come around again too soon.

Don't agree that we were far away Arriba. Hell, a lack of bobble and we could have gone on and snatched that game (undeservedly). And only 2 clubs promoted from the 23 league 1 playoff games got relegated again the next season.

it shows we still have some way to go to get out of league 1.

I read that as being far away. Apologies if that is wrong.

We were miles away on the day, but not in the big picture. Hell 3 draws->wins and we'd be up in the autos. Damn those last minute goals!

Fucking hell, fish head that's horrid. Glad there was no major damage done to you, pal. Yeah the front of the adver broke my heart to be honest. The poor lad, I'm almost as gutted for him as I am about the whole match.

The gloom is starting to lift. There are plenty of positives to have come out of this season. If we can keep the Fitton/Wilson combo together I'm sure we can continue to move forward.
We just get up, dust ourselves down and go again.

I've pretty much recovered from Saturday - I still see Charlie's miss in my head every hour or so and have a "what might have been" moment - but, as has been well covered on another thread, without him we would not have been at Wembley.

Roll on next season.  We are a stronger club than we have been for nigh on two decades.  Come on you reds.

Getting over it now and I am already buzzing for next season. I've tryed to avoid watching highlights from the game so avoid further misery! Does not help that people have been ripping me at work but I have held my head high. Being tormented by a rovers fan does not bother me in the slighest. Still and will always be a proud swindon fan! Heh.

First day back at work tomorrow since the game. Over it now but can't get into the world cup hype just yet.

When are the fixtures out? Need something to get me back on track.

Prepared to pay cash for a ticket to the first sold out away game of the season!  ;)

Come on Samdy, let me have it, so to speak!  :-[
