Title: My Tickets have gone missing.......
Post by: mrdc19 on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, 18:46:14
I am absolutely devasted and stunned tonight.

The tickets were delivered yesterday by recorded delivery but as I was out so they could not be delivered.  There is a sign on the front door saying that if I am out please deliver to a certain neighbour.  Rather worryingly the neighbour does not have them, so it looks as if I am stuffed.

I am going ring the post office in the morning but from previous experience I know that there is very little that they can do about something has only been sent recorded delivery and they only insure things upto £40 and the tickets were worth almost £200.

Does anybody have any bright ideas?

Check with your other neighbours?? Might have took them to a different one?

I was under the impression that only the person at the address can sign for them not a neighbour etc.

They wouldnt have delivered it to the neighbour.....go to your local office ware you pick up your post when not delivered...take a few quid as they may have them.
Theres no way they would drop it at the neighbours house, after all it could have been anyone who put that note on your door.

That sucks. How do you know they were re-delivered today? Could they not be at the sorting office?

Not much of a consolation in terms of your seat number but if you're local pop into the CG ticket office tomorrow with proff of purchase (email conf) and explain the situation to them. If not then give them a call or maybe give Ticket Zone a call.

Royal Mail do deliver to a neighbour if you stick a note on the door, I've done it many times with parcels and they have always taken them where i asked and got them to sign for the stuff.

Ticket Zone should have the recorded delivery reference to see if anyone has signed for it.

Did the postman leave a card? If so, check the reference number on the Royal Mail website - you should be able to see if they were delivered and who signed for them if they were.

I never signed for either of my ticket deliverys they just stuck them through the door.

If you havent signed for them them you dont have them, get onto Ticketzone and create a fuss.

Same here....big sticker on the front of the letter that says recorded delivery and they just stuck them through the letter box.  I'd definitely get onto TicketZone and get them to chase it up.

post about it on the tef, best idea...

As others have said, they had to be signed for and you should be able to track that. If the Postie couldnt deliver them he would have left a card through the door saying they are at the local post/sorting office.

Your neighbours 'ad them i expect.

Nope. Anyone can sign if a special instruction is left.

A recorded delivery is different from a special delivery in that all you get is a signature at the other end. A Special delivery is guarenteed next working day before 1pm and insured for loss etc.

If you have left a special instruction that your neighbour can sign for letters then i'm afraid you could be screwed.

Get the number from ticketzone of the recorded and check on our website to see who signed for it.

I'm getting worried about mine now.

Firstly, the money STILL hasn't been taken from my account. I'm waiting to hear from my parents if the tickets have come, but I'm a bit concerned.

Also, my confirmation email says the total including booking fee and postage is £276.65 for 5 tickets. Then it says they will debit £331.65 from card number ***********O

I'll ring first thing tomorrow. Hopefully all will be well and I won't have to resort to an uncharacteristically angry voice!

I assume you know the tickets were attempted to be delivered yesterday because you had a card through the door?  If so, it should state on there whether the tickets have been returned to the sorting office or the house no they were left with?

Many thanks for everybody who has commented on here.

After phoning the local Royal Mail office this morning 4 times and leaving some rater irate message on their voicemail they finally answered.  They actually have the tickets at their office, the woman on the phone actually had the cheek to ask me if they were football tickets.

The postmen clearly wrote on his card that they had been delivered to a neighbour, when in fact they had been taken back to the delivery office.

After much anger, they have offered to deliver them today to the neighbour.

What could possibly go wrong........

I think I would want to go and collect them to ensure I had them rather than rely on them deleivering again

Ticketzone managed to take £1200 out of my account without a confirmation (only wanted 2, got billed for 18). Was a bit sphincter twitching for a time, but thankfully all sorted now...

I'm on the phone to them now, seems my booking doesn't exist on their database, which is a joke given that I have a confirmation email in front of me. I'm on hold while she tries to sort it out... not impressed.

Edit: Apparantly 'something went wrong' with my booking and they tried to contact me but couldn't. I refrained from suggesting they should have tried harder, but my phone was off for 3 hours that day as I had an exam, they could easily have contacted me at any point in the afternoon.

Anyway, for what it's worth the lass on the phone was very helpful and instead of being in Block 529 I now have tickets in Block 125 for the same price, which is probably a better deal, but it means our group of 11 has now been split into a 5 and a 6 which is a bit annoying.

Yep, I am thankful that we got tickets, and actually they're better than the ones we had before. Just a shame we had to split the group!
