not sure whether this will put a few more on the gate but hopefully an incentive for some......

would liked to have gone on the stratton bank for this one and had enough to generate an atmosphere but given the drop in temp prediction for the weekend, looks like its the town end for me :(

It's a good idea. A lot of people might be thinking as this game might not mean much they will save their money for the playoffs.

Let's be honest - overall our attendances have been dissapointing given how well we've been doing.

they've done this too late.
what about those who go regularly, and may not be able to make this saturday?
glory hunters on a one off will jump ahead of them now.

True, but theres still going to be plenty of tickets left for general sale. no need for anyone to panic about the home play off game.

It has struck me that I may possibly (hopefully) have to buy my season ticket, play off tickets and a possible Wembley ticket all out of one months wage packet!!   :headhurts:

the last time we were in the play offs fans needed a few stubs, rather than one from the last game of the season.

If you're not willing to come to the brentford game you don't deserve play-off tickets anyway

OK, but it's hardly unusual to use stubs as a further differentiator after season tickets and before general sale. Used all the time for cups, play-offs etc.

i think having stubbs as proof of loyalty and having that rewarded in ticket order is the way it should be.
not just 1 stub from the last game of the season though.
the club have got this wrong imo, and is penalising fans who for all manner of reasons may miss saturday.

they should have been asking fans to keep their stubbs for weeks.

Yes it will sell out but most people who want a ticket will be able to get one. There won't be hundreds of loyal supporters left without tickets.

They've made this all ticket for Brentford fans and are giving them the usuall allocation in the Arkells. Seems a strange thing to do unless they're opening the Stratton Bank for us lot.

It will be. After season ticket holders and those with brentford stubbs. There will be at least a few thousand on general sale.

Your whinge makes no sense as more would probably miss out if they went straight on general sale, if its based on ticket stubbs for the last game a handfull will miss out at most.

Title: Re: brentford

Mixed feelings on this one. I don't think the Club are approaching this purely from the point of loyalty. Bearing in mind our possible PO opponents, I'm sure the Club are trying to limit any overspill of away fans into home sections of the CG. As I recall, a similar ploy was tried in the 70's whereby we ended up with 10k+ at a reserve game. I do empathise with arriba though. Perhaps the Club could have stated 'a ticket stub from ANY ONE of our last 3 home games'.

Well if people that have not been all season "glory supporters" got in there quick enough they could snap up alot straight away when there on general sale meaning that the more loyal supporters who have been going would miss out if they didn't act quick enough.

well as the decision directly effects me, i dont like it.

i can't go saturday.i want to go, but it's impossible for me.i wont be the only regular at the county ground this effects for sure.
what that decision has done has totally disregarded my attendance at other matches, and is rewarding others who will be going to their first game saturday.after season ticket holders, and those who go saturday it's a free for all.i dont think that is fair on people in my position.

the stubs being kept is how is should be done, but why only 1 stub, and for only 1 game?
even the old shitty board got this right last time.plenty of warning was given and stubbs were kept.
great as our chairman and board are, they can still get stuff wrong you know!

most of you will have season tickets, or will be going saturday, so are quick to just see me as whining.i reckon you'd see it differently if you were in my position.

I'm actually with you on this one. In 03/04 you had to have a certain number of stubbs to get tickets before they went on general sale. In fact it was ST holders for the first few days then people with 5 stubs the next then 3 stubs for the next day and so on. Think it worked quite well although despite being a ST holder that season I still managed to find myself in the queue for over an hour.

Its the reason i got a season ticket for next year....whoever we get in the playoffs the away match is going to be hard to get a ticket...season ticks for this and next season get first shout in both legs.
Kind of know what arriba is saying but those fans are in the minority, not many will have been to lots of games and will miss the last home match.....another sensible and common sense idea.

Or is this all because you might have to queue a bit longer?

As axs says, it's another one of those little ideas the board have put into effect to slightly boost the attendance at a certain game - and who can blame them?

Title: Re: brentford
Post by: Spy on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, 17:59:18
People who live up the road can attend their first game and get priority.

I don't think that many people will do this because they would be very casual fans and

(a) they have to have read about the offer. casual fans might not be aware of it.

and

(b) they have to attend Swindon vs. Brentford. not a very appealing prospect for someone who hasn't been to any games yet in our best season for years.

I tend to agree with Arriba..

3,4 or 5 matches notice would have fairer and there aren't many other ways of prioritising tickets (other than the card carrying loyalty scheme which will no doubt be in place next season)

But I bet you there would have been plenty of people complaining about the board's ambition or expectation if this incentive had been announced before the exeter game for example when 2nd was still a distinct possibility..

Today on the website it states that season ticket holders from this year or for next will get priority for both playoff matches before stubholders anyway.

I agree with Arriba - and I have bought a season ticket for next year anyway so ill get a playoff ticket anyway.

Yes its good it will boost attendance, for one game - but I couldnt afford a season ticket at the start of last year in one go. So I have bought my tickets individually every game and have been to 35 Swindon matches this year in total (including 12 away games). So I would be fucked off if I had the CHANCE of missing out on a playoff game because someone who only attending the Brentford game got priority (if I couldnt make it). I feel they should have said "2 stubs from our remaining 3 home games" or something.

And all the morons going on about "whinging" - actually try and see it from someone elses perspective. Like I said, i'm not bothered as I now have my season ticket, and I have disagreed with Arribas views in the past, but I would be fucked off if it was me in his situation.

FWIW it's all a load of moaning over nothing. You'll get a ticket. If you really feel that strongly the board are decent guys, complain to them and they might adjust the offer. I know people are whinging about not being told about stubs sooner, but by recollection, didn't the last board do a similar thing with stubs, only not announce it until the season was over? Because i'm sure as shit is brown, that it no word of it was mentioned before the season was finished and it didn't cause this level of overreaction.

Looking at their forum, they seem to think they'll be bringing 1000+ Might get a bit of atmosphere going.

I think £14 is the cheapest single so £28 return.

I hate all this doing well bollocks, I am boycotting the playoff games etc. so if anyone wants to use my season ticket let me know! I'm not coming back until we are shit again!

You won't have to wait long then.

I'll bare my arse in Burton's window if any genuine fan who really wants to go to the home leg misses out on a ticket because of this decision. Massive over-reaction.

just like Mick Mccarthy?

i think the over-reaction is from some countering my opinion personally.christ, i just think the club got it wrong, and have explained why.i'm not overly bothered about it and will get a ticket.i just think the club could have done it better.

lately, anyone who doesn't go all happy clappy over everything is moaning and whining in the eyes of some.

Yeah-fucking evangelists!

Folks, What info do I need when I pick my ticket up tomorrow from the box office? Just the order no? Or the long code that turned up on one of the mails? Don't want to be holding the queue up

Perhaps they've gone, eponymously ?
