Title: Harry Potter
Post by: Doore on Friday, April 9, 2010, 21:35:02
I've not read the books, but I've spent much of the evening half-watching Harry Potter and the really quite long and boring series of events on TV.  Its still on now and my dear lady seems to be asleep.  I am not a snob about fantasy or so called "children's films" - I love Lord of the Rings and really, really enjoyed the His Dark Materials trilogy, but I just can't seem to enjoy Harry Potter.  Please help - am I missing something?

Why are you so bothered about not liking it?

Only because my good lady, who I respect as a very bright, intelligent adult, thinks HP is wonderful.  As do a goodly number of my most respected friends.

Yes.

As the good lady is now asleep, I have full remote control control.  I am now watching the golf.  Good times.

I'll guess she doesn't like golf though.

I only like the films because i've read the books, but even then they're a tough watch, so i know where you're coming from Mr Shears. The books are excellent though.

P.S. On a LOTR note, that and HP are chalk and cheese. I found the LOTR films crap for the record.

I wish I was stupid enough that I'd think I could start threads that would make me look clever because I didn't get stuff.

It's clear that your future together is doomed. It's a little known fact that intelligent people like exactly the same things. From what you've said it would appear that one or both of you is as thick as pig shit. You should get out now before it's too late.

I claim "pig shit" status.  I'd do pretty much anything to avoid a romantic future with fB.  Of course, i might be being ironic to show how clever I am.  But, as we've already established, I'm thick as pig shit, so I'm not capable of irony.

Careful with talking about Shears' brain-power - he takes himself incredibly seriously and just may not sleep for a fortnight.
