You can't go wrong with psyduck.

Always tormented by headaches. It uses psychic powers, but it is not known if it intends to do so.

No, just young enough to have not been too old to play Pokemon when it first came out!!

There's nothing more disappointing  than someone who's let Charmander -> Charmeleon -> Charizard evolution chain happen too early. You learn the higher level moves much earlier if you cancel Charmander evolving until level 50 or so.

Yeah, I didnt know that during my first pokemon red game though.

Which I reckon I still have with a naturally evolved level 100 Charizard. When I played Yellow I kept the evolutions to a minimum.

I might have to hunt down my Pokemon Blue now and have a game. I've got a gameboy player on my gamecube which is pretty cool.

Both Squirtle and Bulbasaur are better starting options anyway to be fair.

I never played the card game. I was a bit too old for that sort of thing.

I didn't play the card game, that was far too complicated. I just collected them because that was the "in" thing to do.

All I can offer to this thread is that pokemon stands for 'pocket monster'

A lot of the pokemon's names are things like this too.

My favourite is Kangaskhan, a wonderful combination of Kangaroo and Genghis Khan.

It's Scizor, from the 2nd games, Gold and Silver. I'm a bit younger than you see, that's my generation. It evolves from Scyther, which was pretty cool itself.

To play online just Google for "pokemon emulator online".

Though I'd download an emulator myself, Visual Boy Advance will do the trick. PM me if you need the Pokemon roms.

I've only ever really played Red/Blue. I think they're all pretty similar though.

Think they're all very similar gameplay-wise. They just introduced more pokemon, day and night and the ability to team up pokemon.

I think I would find it demoralising to have to catch too many. 150 is enough!

I just remembered this.

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_In7cd9sYoR4/R1EG5t0-kiI/AAAAAAAAAyk/ZvWNzkr7Mmg/s1600-R/Pokemon%2BSnap%2B(N64).jpg

Did anyone else play this?

It was brilliant it was so chilled out and relaxing there was no danger or anything. All you had to do was go round taking photos of pokemon in their natural habitat. You could save your best one and got points for if they were exhibiting certain behaviours (eg jigglypuff singing). It was like the gaming version of taking smack.
