Title: Survey from club
Post by: sheepshagger on Monday, March 22, 2010, 12:36:52
Anyone else received an email from the club asking them to complete a confidential survey ?

I just received one and it says "click here to participate" - there is nothing to click on that I can see ?!?

I was wondering if anyone else has received, and whether I was just being a twat ?

Same here. The "click here" doesn't work (another great e-shot after my other rant!).

You can however get to it from the OS

I didn't think most of the questions were relevant, as i've bought a ST already, and am not local, so have jabbered on about that mainly.

Argh - I spent a fair old while filling it in and writing a fair bit in the boxes at the bottom. Tried to submit and got "No data has been sent". Would that be because I took too long writing it or because the survey somehow picked up on the fact that I'm a numbskull?

Do you think "Banning orders for morons" is a bit far?

ditto! the club could really become a forerunner and innovator if they looked at it properly. a lot of places in europe are all-seater with a small but significant section left for standing, why not here? surely it'd be safer than standing in normal seating areas (particularly luton's away end for instance)

The main reason it's not happened here is the law. However, if a club such as ourselves were to seroiusly consider the idea and bring the proposals before parliament, I'm sure groups like FSF would back us, provding valuable input and support. The main issue would be the costs of such action I'd imagine.

the law hasn't been challenged though, has it? iirc it was bought in as a result of the taylor report following the hillsbrough disaster. i think a precedent has been set on the continent that could be used.

has anyone been to a ground in europe which has safe standing or some form of terracing still?

Bundesliga grounds have terracing.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/6458843.stm

PLUS you can drink beer while on the terraces PLUS it's only between £10-£18 for a ticket.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/world_football/6576807.stm

The Bundesliga is where it's at and England should follow suit.

Would love to see terracing back in the big grounds.

When I went to FC Koln vs Hamburg the other month the cheapest ticket I could find for any area of the ground was £31. Perhaps I was missing a trick, but the locals seemed to think that was a fair price. Cologne are fighting against relegation and only came up to the Bundesliga two seasons ago I think, yet they get 50,000 every week guaranteed.

I met a very old friend of mine recently, who now lives with Krauts, he told me he bought a Werder Bremen season ticket for 200 euro....we were both getting extremely hammered so I possibly got the figure wrong....but I always thought fussball was relatively cheap.

Another vote for terracing.

On the subject of the membership scheme, are they proposing to remove some of the benefits associated with ST purchase (i.e. priority for tickets for big games) and apply them to the membership scheme?

I complained about the burgers! Cold and not cooked properly!
This must be a good sign because I can't think of anything else to moan about.

I also suggested incorparating alot more parking in the stadium redevelopment. Being an out of towner, parking for matches is abit of a nightmare. On saturdays, I park at the multi storey but night games are a pain because it closes at 9pm. Sometimes I can get up Shrivy Road if I get there early enough.

Not sure how they would increase parking at the ground though!

Something that would improve the match day experience for me would be if they introduced some kind of filing-out system in the Don Rogers Stand, that allows the people who sit at the back to be let out first.

Alternatively perhaps extra exits could be built that allow those at the back to exit via the second concourse housed within the body of the stand.

Done. Mentioned safe standing and the idea of cooperation with fans over plans for a new stadium in general. The proposal for a membership scheme sounds interesting. As somebody who can't make every game, and wouldn't be able to afford a season ticket even if I could, it sounds like a very good idea to me. I'm often worried about not being able to get tickets for away games when we get a small allocation, especially since I can't get down to the club to buy one, and tend to rely on people with a ST to buy me one.

I filled mine in and put TEF as main source of information. I said they needed to imprrove the stewarding as there were a couple by the TE who needs a good shoeing. I said no to the membership thingy - just give me the same seat for the games - and priority for away or cup / play offs games.

I didn't really put anything of note, although in hindsight would have requested that all musical instruments be smashed over the owners head, if bought to football.

Or perhaps they allow a non-safe standing-area, with free beer, where musical instruments are allowed, along with weaponry and anyone currently banned from football for a tendency to go all ashikodi in the face of music.

Safe standing isn't illegal, it's just not permitted in the top league if you get there.  The FLA seem to have relaxed their view on needing to replace terracing in all grounds but I believe the way they stop new terracing is by witholding grant money that can be used in the development - it makes it a financial problem for a club because they know they will have to charge lower prices than seated stands and can't get the upfront money either.

The FLA seem unlikely to ever change their stance because the real reason behind it is to avoid hooliganism inside grounds every reappearing.  They can't base the regulations on that, but they have all but admitted it in their responses to previous questions on the subject.

Spring Gardens is open until late, Brunel West is always open (and they tend to leave the barrier up at night so you can drive out free) and Wyvern is 24hr exit.

Unless there is one you're on about which I have missed?

Unless that's a new thing, I've been parking there for as long as I've owned a car (7 years or so), and never seen a clamp... And they'd have to buy a shitload of them!

If you're worried about clamping, park in the Wyvern. It's about a 2 minute extra walk.

But going along with LS's suggestion, I've never had problems.
