Title: Pay Rises
Post by: Power to people on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, 16:22:50
Anyone getting a pay rise this year then ?

I'm not getting one - again - had it out with my manager this afternoon and basically been told he's not happy about it but nothing he can do and 'off the record' the only thing you can do is find another job paying more and then the company may offer to match it....but if I found another job paying more I'd leave though anyway so that's not really much help.

I think that company's are just using 'market conditions' as an excuse to not cough up when they are happy still spending in other areas

first email I had after christmas was one welcmoming back for 2010, and that we wouldn't be getting pay rises. It stinks, not least becasue the price of eveything else is going up, and we're all being asked to do more work for the same money.

Joke.

Not heard yet. Usually pay review takes effect 1 April, so would like to think I'll hear something soon.

I'm still getting paid trainee salary. I should be getting my pay rise this month or next as they changed the pay review dates to coincide with appraisals every 6 months.

Hopefully I get what roughly what I expect and even though it won't be near enough top dollar, it should get backdated from 1st January. I have a niggling feeling something will mess that expectation up.

I'm due to after a freeze last year, but had quite a bit of extra holiday too so not really complaining at the moment.

If you aren't getting paid as much as you think you should, then you have a moral right to steal the difference.

We have the wanky "salary bands" and "mid-points" too. For us, those who are more than 10% under mid-point are supposed to get a more generous raise, which I'm pretty sure I fall into (fingers crossed).

Haven't had one for 2 years, and not expecting one considering we've lost so many jobs in the last 15 months.

The rates for a days work went up slightly last march and in addition the principle company I work for changed the way we are renumerated for mileage.  In our favour really.  Used to get paid for the petrol and £25 for car use, now get 40p per mile (a pretty poor rate but better than it has been).  This means a trip to manchester is costing me £50 in petrol and Im getting £150 for it.

But it is getting tougher to find the work.

I'm lucky in that although i work in public sector and wasn't expecting anything, because we became a Unitary Authority last year they've had to review what the different authorities did and put everyone/thing in step, so we've had all the holidays put in line, so i now get 31 days. And the pays were all reviewed, some went down, some went up and much to my suprise as i was expecting (hoping) to stay the same, i got a rise of £2.3K from next month, and they are backdating it to April 09 so i will get a good pay packet next month.

Very happy but very grateful as well as i really wasn't expecting anything.

That sounds like Nationwide, I'm on 112% of target so fuck all for me I guess - and I sit next to the Rewards team and no matter how many Starbucks or cream cakes i get them, I'll still get fuck all.

2%....  but bearing in mind the company I work for is pissing on their targets and doing well out of the recession, it does seem a bit little stingy...

I find out in August really need at least a 25% rise or I am off to find a job in the west country. My pay rises seem to be on two year cycles one year I'll get a shity 5% (like this year) but the previous year I got a 28% so this year I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've also found that it helps if you get someone to phone up your boss and ask loads of questions about you ie a reference. I also get some of my more freindly cleints to send emails to my boses a month or two beofre my pay review saying how greeat I am.

Local Government, so no chance of a pay rise, pay freeze already announced. Also going through a "restructure" at the moment, so will find out if my job still exists in a few weeks.  I've got a baby on the way as well so am pretty much shitting myself right now.
