Title: Glasses Post by: Sippo on Friday, March 5, 2010, 18:36:45 Been told to day that I have to wear glasses for work because my eye muscles are too lazy to focus for long periods.
Fucking great. Where's the best place to get some frames etc?! *awaits all the jokes....* Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, March 5, 2010, 18:48:38 What's brown and sticky? A stick.
What's orange and sounds like a Parrot? A Carrot. Title: Re: Glasses Post by: reeves4england on Friday, March 5, 2010, 18:50:56 Been told to day that I have to wear glasses for work because my eye muscles are too lazy to focus for long periods. Opticians tend to be a good shout ;)Fucking great. Where's the best place to get some frames etc?! *awaits all the jokes....* I got mine from Haine and Smith. Looked in Specsavers and couldn't find a single pair of glasses that I liked! Although that's probably just because I'm incredibly fussy. Unless it's just a cheap pair of readers that you need? In which case you can get them from supermarkets, WHSmith etc... Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Sippo on Friday, March 5, 2010, 18:53:07 No its reflective ones or something?! Its for looking at screen all day apparently.
I think my employer has to make a contribution don't they? Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Talk Talk on Friday, March 5, 2010, 18:59:20 These are nice

You just need to make sure that the optician agrees that you only need them for work, and not for driving or reading etc
I use Dolland & Aitchison in the Brunel, they give you a decent eye exam and help you chose, but not in a pushy way. You can haggle with them as well :-) Title: Re: Glasses Post by: jonny72 on Friday, March 5, 2010, 19:35:37 I get my eyes tested in Asda, then get the glasses from where ever I find the pair I like the best. Bit different for me though as I have to wear them every minute of the day as I'm blind as fuck without them - I can focus on something about 8 inches from my eyes without them and past that its a blur.
If you want to spend as little as possible try Specsavers, Asda, Tesco and the like. Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, March 5, 2010, 19:44:55 Specsavers aren't opticians, they're shopticians. They'll sell you glasses even if you don't need them.
If you have your prescription, order from www.glassesdirect.co.uk. Title: Re: Glasses Post by: DMR on Friday, March 5, 2010, 19:54:25 Hahaha, you bunch of poorly-sighted speccy nerds. That is all.

So either you've got glasses when you don't need them, or you're offering advice on something you know fuck all about... either way you're a mug! Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 02:38:19 I go to Vision Express. Not cheap, but I get £80 off frames due to being on their contact lens plan too (I don't wear contacts on a daily basis).
Plus I'm fussy and they can't have a name like Gok Wan written on them Title: Re: Glasses Post by: Sippo on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 08:18:29 Wouldn't buy them online as I'll need to try them on.
Title: Re: Glasses Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 10:20:36 I go to Vision Express. Not cheap, but I get £80 off frames due to being on their contact lens plan too (I don't wear contacts on a daily basis). My last pair came from Vision Express, ended up complaining to their head office. Swindon claimed I had agreed the new presciption, turns out they made the pesciption up wrong and wouldn't admit it. Finally got the proper glasses, an apology and 50% of my money back!! Would never go back there!Plus I'm fussy and they can't have a name like Gok Wan written on them Title: Re: Glasses Post by: nochee on Saturday, March 6, 2010, 10:41:23 This thread reminded me of this.
