Title: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: ChalkyNCFC on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:38:56 Hi Norwich fan here, just wanted to ask you lads a few things about Mcnamee. Recently he has got into are 1st 11 after injury/suspension to a few players and some Norwich fans are getting a bit excited about him but tbh i think he is absolutly shit, does about 100 stepovers then delivers a poor cross. Some Norwich fans seem to rate him though and are comparing him to Huckerby which is ridiculous imo. Anyway i wanted to know what you lot thought of him during his time with you did you rate him? Also i notice your form has increased a lot since he left is that anything to do with him or more to do with Austin bagging all those goals? Also why did he leave Swindon? did he want to leave or did Wilson want him out? Seems a bit of a strange signing to me, seems to be a favourite of Lambert but i can't see it myself, i think league 1 is his level, would certianly look out of dept in the Championship, unlike Hoolahan for example. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season(would love to see you beat Leeds scum to 2nd) except for March 20th :D

Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: axs on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:42:09 He wasn't favoured by Wilson, work ethic not great, good at crossing and assists, but doesn't add anything else to the game. You'll be lucky if you catch him behind the halfway line.
On his day he puts the shits up defenders, but his day isn't often enough and we were generally glad to get some cash for him. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: ChalkyNCFC on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:46:42 I think when Huckerby was scoring 10 goals a season from midfeild in the Championship and Prem for us and you where languishing in League 2 or whatever you might have taken him then m8 Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Nemo on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:47:47 Good on his day, will go on hot runs and probably be a favourite of many fans, but there's a reason he plays in League One.

It's not what it used to be. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Bennett on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:48:27 i was talking relatively
good bite also Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: pauld on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:52:51 does about 100 stepovers then delivers a poor cross. About sums him up. More Michael Flatly than Michael Owen.Quote Also why did he leave Swindon? did he want to leave or did Wilson want him out? You lot turned his heads last summer and his always intermittent form completely nosedived thereafterTitle: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: ChalkyNCFC on Monday, March 1, 2010, 21:57:58 i was talking relatively Ok, fair enough.good bite also You got me  Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: ChalkyNCFC on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:03:07 About sums him up. More Michael Flatly than Michael Owen. Sounds shit, i reckon most Norwich fans will turn on him in a few months, probably after we loose at the County Ground and he has a crap gameYou lot turned his heads last summer and his always intermittent form completely nosedived thereafter Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Nemo on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:04:31 Sounds shit, i reckon most Norwich fans will turn on him in a few months, probably after we loose at the County Ground and he has a crap game He will, as the County Ground will be away from home. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: pauld on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:08:17 FWIW, despite his on/off form for us, I hope he does do well at Norwich (except at the CG, natch). There's something there, just needs to show it more often
Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Batch on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:09:29 Honest opinion. On his day he can rip defenders to shreds. BUT those days are hit and more likely miss. And when they are miss he offers little else to the team, it not that he didn't try (though others disagree) but his physique means he's never going to have that in his game.
I didn't know it at the time, but McNamee leaving has improved our team, as we now have two hard working players on the wing who can deliver going forward, and track back. Hopefully we'll show you in a couple of weeks. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: adje on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:13:13 Chalky is dave

Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: axs on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:27:37 i'm not Dave You'll have to excuse adje, he's in love with Mcnamee. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: axs on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:29:43 But as a consolation you can sing his song:
Mcnamee, Mcnameee, Mcnamee oh Mcnamee He's like a black Ronaldo Mcnamee, Mcnamee. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:43:50 you seen him away from carrow road yet? bet hes shit.
Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Rustle on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:48:29 does about 100 stepovers then delivers a poor cross. You got that bit right that's for sure,I would rather have danny ward any day and he's not even a winger.Im glad he's gone and thats not being bitter,we've done far better without him. Good luck to him tho i wish him no malice. Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: 4D on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:50:12 Does anyone think he would feature in our first team now (if he hadn't left)?
Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Rustle on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:52:56 No way he would't be picked over ward.
Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: jayohaitchenn on Monday, March 1, 2010, 22:59:13 But would we have tried Ward on the wing in the first place if we had had a left-winger?
Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: DV on Monday, March 1, 2010, 23:07:28 I am not chalky!
I do think you have him pretty much sussed. You will also notice he does bugger all defensively and when he does not have the ball he is a passenger. Austin was the missing piece so that's helped our form but Ward coming in on the left has played a part both offensively (more goals than Macca) and defensively. I was glad he went. Surprised he went to you though. Is an average L1 player at best. You'll probably bomb him out next season. Good luck to him tho i wish him no malice. that.but i wish him a town called malice Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: LiBeRtInE on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, 01:13:54 Im a newbie to forums and have never thought of adding a post as they are usually full of 80% bollocks (great subtitle btw!) and in this case all the anti mcnammee commentas are 80% bollocks.
I dont get to many swindon games as i live in london now, so my comments may also be bollocks but every time i watched mcnamme he was either our only bit of creativity e.g orient away when we won 2-1 a couple of years ago, or was played out of the game. The reason he was played out of the game was because it was league 1! not because he was average and reached his supposed level in league 1. My point being, players thrive who are like your danny wards in league 1 because they put in a shift and also have a slight creative aspect to their game (which mcnammee had in abundance). But if mcnamee was playing now under wilson now he would produce more consistency as we seem to try to play ball more regularly, we seem to forget that wilson has taken a while to find his starting 11 under the formation he is playing. I have seen the town play football the right way away from home against Franchise and fulham this season and at home agaisnt orient very well, i was very excited for town to be doing this at that level they are at and beieve this is the way forward but in games on poor pitches like on saturday and when the opposition trys to keep it tight and get at us of course players like mcnammee will struggle. To disregard him as average because he has supposedly reached his level at league 1 is a joke!, talk to watford fans!. As a town fan in london i have done so and they love the guy, he is a quality player who likes to play ball the right way shame shift workers thrive in league 1, otherwise he may have got a better look in. p.s looking to the future lloyd macklin should be treasured as mcnammee was'nt he will be shunted off for cash in a few years, we should be looking after creative young talent in this league to build for a future where its truly appreciated....oh i forgot that requires ambition! Title: Re: Anthony Mcnamee Post by: Ginginho on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, 07:06:18 We're a much better team without him.
