I also have a Dreamcast down the back of my sofa, i'm not sure why it's still there to be honest.

On a related note, Carphone Warehouse gave me an XBox 360 with my phone upgrade on Saturday. Which is nice.

I have one of the old ones (60gb) and I was using it yesterday and it did freeze a couple of times and I had to restart it.
But I don't think i'll use it again until they have sorted out whatever the problem is.

So how do they plan on fixing it? Surely you need to turn it on to receive a firmware update, but if you turn it on you'll risk losing save game data. How wank.

i left my ps3 on last night, so what are the chances of it still being ok?

Just been reading up on this a bit and it would appear that it's a problem with the internal clock. Apparntley you can turn it on but playing games/trying to sign into psn causes a problem with saved themes and trophies.

This is the 'official' advice.

Does this affect me?

-If you have a Slim PS3, you're good to go. Continue playing it as normal.
-If you have a "fat" PS3, you may be affected. Some fat PS3s have worked ok, but it seems a good majority have been bugged.

What does this bug mean?

-If affected, your date and time has been set to a random past date. This prevents you from signing into PSN, playing any PSN games, or using any DLC. Your trophies will also not display correctly or be able to sync.

How do I fix it?

-You can't. Even if you don't sign into PSN, it won't help. This is a hardware issue.

So, what do I do?

-Wait 24 hours. Other products that have had similar bugs have corrected themselves after the "bugged" day. On Monday around 6pm central time, all PS3s will automatically correct themselves...maybe.

-If that doesn't work, we'll need a firmware update from Sony, which should be a pretty important priority for them right now.

Did I lose my data/themes/etc?

Your save data/games/dlc/themes are fine. They'll be fixed when the PS3 is fixed. Trophies are uncertain right now, but they'll be fine if you've synced them before the PS3 was bugged. Unsynced trophies are an unknown right now.

If I have a bugged PS3, can I still use it?

It's probably not a good idea, as I have no idea what will happen to the trophies you earn during the bugged time. Movies/media will work fine.

Thankfully i've been at work today and haven't used mine. I always sync my trophies though. Don't know why just do. Hopefully most will be fine from tomorrow onwards. If not it'll just be a patch from Sony when you next trun your console on.

that "whatever you do dont turn it on" was bullshit, i was trying mine every hour, havent tried today but will when i get home from work, it looks like all they've done is wait till midnight and its fixed itself. like batch said.

I think mine was a day out this morning, i.e. 1st march. The "don't play it" advise was from sony. I think it likely that was easier and safer than issuing scenarios that may cause issue. They'll fix it properly in due course so it can't happen again.

im not to much of a trophy whore so i havent even checked, i never do, all i was bothered about was my mw2 progress which is fine.

Yeah you won't lose your MW2 online stats as that's network based as opposed to saved data.

mines fine again as well
