Title: Email tax scam
Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Thursday, February 18, 2010, 23:10:34
Be careful people just had a tax scam which looked really legit from "HMRC" saying i was due a tax rebate which if you click on takes you to a fake HMRC site then asks for your bank details.

LOOKED VERY VERY REAL

I really don't understand how people fall for these scams. No one just gives money out.

I had one from 'paypal' asking me to verify my account details. All the input boxes were within an email and you click a button to submit.

Im expecting a tax rebate and it was maybe luckily pretty much spot on, it linked to a site which now looking at it is identical to the official HMRC site. Was very very believable.

They would send you a cheque, not ask you for your bank details.

It's not the ISP that needs to be persecuted. It's the scum who send it

I like the ones that ask you to fill in your details. I fill them in as follows...

Name: Fuck off
Address: You scamming little cunt
etc..etc...
