10 point deduction applied as of today.

Not good for them at all but still doesnt put them into the relegation zone.

Shame, its my local team, nice little family club.

I was hoping we would be playing them next year. Home game for me!

If we don't get promoted, we might well be. Heh - if Leeds Charlton and Norwich all managed to cock up their promotion pushes, next season's second and third tiers will look like they've been swapped round

Palace are doing a Bournemouth, only 3 subs.

Theyve always been a bit of a weird team for me. Different from the other London clubs.

A Saints fan I know said he thought a typical Palace fan was a kids football coach who thought they knew everthing about football.

Judging by the table now, they should still be good enough to stay up. It just depends what effect this has on the fans, the players, and any potential transfer activity. If the gates fall or they have to let some players go then they could be in trouble.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace
Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 20:25:24
Their gates have been dropping drastically for the last couple of years, most games now they only get 13-14k, which is well down on the previous decade. Main problem is where there used to be Palace shirts everywhere here ( i live 4-5 miles from their ground) All you now see is Chelsea, It's well depressing.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace
Post by: Langers on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, 20:37:47
Agree. I used to see loads of Palace fans. A mate of mine is a season ticket holder and said that their gates have been getting worse and worse. Apparantly the club have tried everything to get people to come, i think they were virtually giving away season tickets in the summer.

More worringly, another Palace fan i know, who has been going for years, recently told me he was going to stop supporting Palace and become a Man Utd 'supporter' because ''they are better than palace, near the top of the league and are on tele more''Hes never even been to Manchester! I felt like punching him in the face. Its becoming more and more common, no wonder teams are getting into money problems with all these fans chosing to support big teams because they are good.

I can see a fair-weather/occasional fan doing it, but not someone who has followed a team for years could do that. Disgraceful.

I lived in a house with a Palace fan in my Uni days. He took some of my CDs home with him when we left. For that reason I don't like Palace.

Obviously not read that Man Yoo are £716m in debt and climbing...and they could be in Palace's shoes in the next few years when the money runs out.

Also tell him that he's a glory hunting plastic, and that we've been through more shit than they have....and we're still standing, and thrashed Leeds.

As I said in that thread. I think they were Leeds fans. Just didnt get any chance to show it. There was a row of about 10 of them and not one stood up for any of our goals. Didnt even clap the first one. But Ill always say what I think on here and I thought they were a bunch of pricks. Better to argue it out on the actual thread though.

As for the comment about Man Yoo. Made my heart sink when they raised that bond issue. They could have raised double that amount, and it only took them 2 days. Unfortunately it would have confirmed the Glazer's view that he got United at a decent price and was right to buy it.

It's a real shame that Palace have gone into admin.  It's not like they ever really chased the premiership dream and  overspent on transfers.

With each passing year I dislike EPL football more and more to the point that I find it boring.  I'm much more interested in lower league football and even non league football, no one here understands that (even the token English people I know).

Sadly he wasn't sold before the administrators went in, unlike Pompey who have been saved from immediate administration by selling Kaboul to Spurs.  Think it is just putting off the evil day!

Warnock really is a fucking twat, he now wants the linesman that incorrectly awarded a corner at the end of the Villa game suspended for "a long time" - for one simple mistake that very few people picked up on in real time.

If anything it is Warnock that should be banned for a long time, until he learns to keep his mouth shut.

Surely a cup replay at Villa which will no doubt be on tv is worth more than a game away at west brom or reading anyway.

Maybe he was more thinking that they deserved to win the football match, not about how much money each eventuality could make.

He just goes too far and ends up spouting nothing but bollocks.

Demanding a long ban for a corner incorrectly awarded is just plain fucking stupid. He makes himself look a twat.

no he doesn't.he shows passion and shoots from the hip.
probably the most honest and upfront manager in the game.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace
Post by: Nemo on Monday, February 15, 2010, 13:44:33
Being rude and disrespectful is not the same as being honest. He moans about referees in a lot of situations where they have made no mistake at all (he's not alone amongst managers in doing that, many do it to take the heat off their own or their player's failings)

What like when a goal Palace scored at Shitty as the officials couldn't spot that the ball had actually hit the back of the net.

He's talked a load of nonsense in the past but like yesterday, he's talked a lot of sense. I spotted it straight away, but it made it easier watching it on TV.

To be fair, it was a shocking decision.

Warnock is great, if only there were more like him, the game would be much more entertaining.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace
Post by: [email protected] on Monday, February 15, 2010, 15:44:19
It was a bad decision, but what was the result of it - A CORNER.  Listening to him straight after the game, it seemed his big gripe was that assistant spent the game smiling!  Well FFS, ban a guy for actually enjoying his work (up until the corner/goal kick incident he had a good game).

The problem with Warnock, is that his constant moaning about officials makes him sound like a complete twat, so that when he has a genuine gripe (the phantom "goal" for example) nobody takes him seriously.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace

So you think Warnock should be happy because they drew instead of won?  When managers start thinking that way we might as well all pack the game in.  I'm fairly certain he would see his job as trying to win matches.

I doubt it.  After all, it's easier to blame the lino rather than say "we should have defended better"

No becasue he's a prick.  It only resulted in a corner FFS, watching the game live, I had no idea it had hit the villa player then gone out either.

I'm all for giving refs shit when they deserve it, but on this occasion it only resulted in a corner (not a red card or a pen or both) which palace could have defended better.  That and it wasnt obvious without slow motion replays.

The phantom goal on the other hand he was well within his rights to be pissed off as it was blindingly obvious.

To be fair, Warnock has admitted he over reacted. He said when he got home his wife pointed out that the same thing had happened in the last round, except it was Palace scoring from a corner that should have been a goal kick.

Title: Re: Crystal Palace
Post by: timmyg on Monday, February 15, 2010, 17:26:51
I like the guy.  He reacts like a fan would, and sometimes says things that are ridiculous in the heat of the moment, as we all do.

Having said that, the Sheffield United - West Ham saga was a bit much, but his outbursts etc are fine/good.

On last night, I thought that the Villa defenders got away with a lot of pushes and climbing without any punishment, Alan Lee threw an elbow at the defender and should have gone, the corner/goal-kick incident and the times when Villa were flagged offside when clearly on were pretty obvious and should have been got right.

Not that the ref should be banned or anything, he just got some decisions wrong, as we see every week...

Where did you see that?  I can't see it on the BBC, Sky or Crystal Palace website.
Even if he did admit he overreacted I bet he doesn't appologise or admit that "we ALL make mistakes", as it is typical of Warnock to gob off and blame everyone else first and then engage his brain second.

Just like most supporters really. It's refreshing to see a bloke rant about something before he cools down and logic takes over. Not all managers can be as passionless as Wenger.  Thank fuck.

I think Warnock is quality. At least he has a personality and isn't afraid to speak out. Most managers just try and look good by sounding fair and unbiased but the thing I like about Warnock is that he says what he likes and doesn't give a shit about it.

Warnock is a true maverick. Theres not many left in football these days. He is a drama queen, but he can inspire footballers to things they shouldnt be able to do by being rediculous and mad.

Top quality.
