Title: Paypal help
Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, January 21, 2010, 09:51:58
OK, this is done my F'in nut in, I have not really used it before.

I have some money in my paypal account which I wish to withdraw to my bank, it asks me for my 4 digit paypal code which I don't have.

When I call the bank they tell me that they cannot give me the 4 digit code because there is no transaction history (chicken or the egg springs to mind)

When I try to confirm my card (this $1.95 thing) it says that I can't because my card number already exists, no shit Sherlock.

Heeeeeeelllpppppp. I only want to get to my money.

I think the 4 digit paypal code will appear on your statement next to the $1.95 transaction. Check that and see if that works.

That's the thing, the bank is telling me that there is no transaction.

Have you gone through the account set up process, to withdraw/send funds to your  bank? Once you enter the details Paypal debit 2 small amounts that appear on your bank statement. You confirm those two amounts on Paypal and they activate/authorise.

Surely I must have done.

I have only used it once, which was to put credit onto my skype account. That transaction went through fine and so how can it not be set up?

Or am I missing something?

Hmmm, it never asks me for the 4 digit pin when I transfer money to/from my Paypal account, so this would only need to be done initially to fully set up the account.

What are you putting in when it asks for your to confirm your card?

I'm guessing you don't have online banking to check your statement to see if the 4 digit pin is on there as you've been on to your bank already.

Perhaps Paypal have made the security transaction but it hasn't cleared in your account yet so they have no record of it?
I would try again tomorrow to see if the transaction has cleared.

But how could I send money previously if the account fully wasn't set up?

To confirm my card they are asking for my card # (No problem) and my 4 digit paypal code which I don't have.

Is it possible that the bank are just being lazy and not checking properly, after all I set this account up and used it for the first time in September last year. This is the first time that I have gone to use it since and the first time that I have tried to withdraw money.

Because PayPal debited directly from your card, not your bank account.

It sounds like your PayPal account still isn't completely verified. To set up bank funding (i.e. they take the money directly from your account rather than charging your card) and/or withdrawals from PayPal to your bank, you need to do as others have said and verify your PayPal account.

But every time I try to verify my account it asks for my paypal code which I don't have.

What am I doing wrong?

Think you need to start from scratch and set up your bank. Just tried mine for the first time in a while and the authorisation has lapsed, so i need to do again.

Go to Profile and then Add or Remove Bank Account.

Is your account listed?

It is listed, yes.

I still wonder if maybe the bank are being a bit idle and only checking more recent records thinking that I set up the account recently.

If it isn't recent, then it probably has lapsed. Not sure what the period is, but mine is under a year, and i have to redo, inc the two small debits.

Turns out that the bopards at the bank can't tell me the number because it goes back to September. Down to the bank I go tomorrow to get a printed statement.
