would say ok as a back up for Austin but not a long term solution. Better than that spastic Hutchinson though

That would be a very 'meh' signing.

A player that I have actually heard of, he must be good.

Carlisle fans were pretty pissed off that he did not accept their new contract offer as he has been the catalyst that has turned their season in 3 months he has been their. I see him as more of a backup for Paynter as he holds the ball up well according to carlisle fans.

He's not that much of a goal scorer though is he ?

He's better than Paynter.. Surely..

Paynter has been immense this season

He wont sign for us he will sign for Southampton, closer to his Portsmouth home and probably more money too.

i trust danny, and im sure he's seen something about him to make a move, im sure its not because he was on juve's books he must be good type of move.

I'll reserve judgement

To be fair to him he has played most of his career above League 1 level so he should be good enough to bag goals in this division which he has proved with 4 in 10 for Carlisle.

6 goals in 16 games in all competitions.

Not too bad a record, and really highly rated by Carlisle fans.

I mentioned about Vincent Pericard maybe moving to Town last Thursday in the topic "January Transfer Window" and was politely shot down as my source was a rumour website.

Not so much a rumour anymore by the looks of things

Here's another one. John Spicer from Doncaster Rovers on loan and have seen that DW has Marvin Morgan in his sights

Title: Re: Vincent Pericard could be on his way
Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 10:49:30
Morgan was linked a few months ago. Sounds like lazy rumour generating again. Although that Pericard did the rounds earlier in the season.

If Wilson has come out openly talking about trying to sign him after all the other cock-ups when players names have been leaked then I will take this as a 'Red Herring' - they are moving for someone else and this is a false trail.

Title: Re: Vincent Pericard could be on his way
Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 10:58:35
Pericard did look a bit of a battering ram type when we played them, cant really say he stood out though, might be a late bloomer like The Chief though, very similar in style.

It only says that they have made an enquiry about him. Until we get a signature I wont get excited.

Although it feels good to have all this rumour and anticipation!

Nine clubs in seven years, he's nearly as good as big Trev Benjamin.

That said, in his first season for Pompey in the Championship he was immense before his injury but he's never appeared to anywhere settle since.

No chance, he'll want more money than we're offering.

Was thinking this earlier. Strange that Wilson (actually it may have been Fitton) said we don't like to reveal our targets before they have signed after the Robinson saga. Strange that 2 names have come out of Wilson's mouth this week.

He's good on Footy Manager...  Sorry someone had to say it!

John Spicer would be an excellent signing.  It's nice to be linked with these kind of players, seems we're going up in the world...

I suppose until it's signed there is no point getting too excited but this definitely sounds better than hutchinson and Revell.

spicer would be an excellent signing, pericard would give us more options and presumably will be cheap

both would add to the team and i'd be happy

He met with AF at the Madjeski Stadium last night, why there I don't know!  Agreed personal terms, just a medical to pass.

He broke the speed limit and said his father was driving his car and when they checked his father hadn't visited this country for year, he thought the Britishs Police wouldnt check up on it ......foot himself shot!

He got 4 months I think.

I was in Plymouth during that time and I can recall that there was also CCTV proof that he was driving the car too.

Quotes from Carlisle United's fans forum.

Topic: "Who will Vincent Pericard sign for?"

'I could understand going to Charlton or Soton but its a fairly sad indictment if he does choose Swindon regardless of geography its not much of a step up'

'you could argue on the swindon is all about money than an actual step-up, but football is a money-driven game thesedays and harsh facts are Swindon will probably be offering him alot more than us because they have 3-4 rich money men behind the club.

One of them situations maybe in afew years you get annoyed if Swindom come complaining about the old money problems when you know they overspend today, but again that is how football is.'

'Looks like the bench at Swindon it is then '

He broke the law, got caught, got found guilty and served the time. End of I reckon. Move on.

My main concern is his level of intelligence, as you have to be pretty bloody stupid to do what he did.

Agree, but at least now there seems to be some long term planning by the board and the potential new stadium if it's ever going to happen will be with Fitton and Co in charge.

Michael Bridges did similar but he was localish to Carlisle. He flopped at Bristol City and dropped to Carlisle and did well - earning a move to Hull City.

That clearly was not the context in which it was written Nev. The numpty made it look as though the club is being bankrolled which is simply not the case.

Until we're making a profit, where is the money coming from then ?  Granted, it's nowhere the scale of many other clubs.

A couple more players and I'll be very pleased with the depth of the squad.

How much did Cox bring in upfront (minus readings cut) compared to what he lost.
