Good luck to him. Not his fault he was sub-standard, he was hardly going to turn down the chance to play for us.

I suspect he was one of the lower earners so it probably didn't cost as much to pay up his contract, it is more of the high earners like Aljokefree that need to be moved on to make more money available.

As someone else has already said, it wasn't his fault he wasn't good enough. If you're offered a chance to play professional football, you take it.

Good luck to him.

Kasali Yinka Casal has joined FC Cluj in Romania!

I think they were the team who were in the Champions League last year! So he's done well there. From sixth in league 1 to top of the romanian league!

What did Cluj see in a player whos not good enough for League 1?

Must have seen his youtube video and checked him out on Champ Manager.

Also Patrick Kanyuka is at Cluj too?

Are we sure they aren't just on trial?

Casal has gone to Cluj, one of the clubs involved in the Austria pre season tours, that were organised by football agents.

He goes back to Cluj, they give him a few outings (maybe in the UEFA cup), and then the agents go back to another club in western Europe with their youtube video's and try to get another club to splash out £100k?

We got done on this one.

I dont know whether the club has decided to go back to Austria again? But I would hope the club would consider a different pre season tour this season.

Weird, I checked Wiki earlier and he had him down as playing for Cluj. I assumed someone was playing silly buggers.

Extraordinary.....was there a mention of Swindon in the interviews?  Do you think they know his record here?  I've never been happy at the level of criticism against him because he showed some promise when he first arrived, but has obviously had a bit of a disaster since - but this move and the interview seems extraordinary, if Cluj are as big as people say they are.

Wilson said he hasn't signed for anyone yet but might end up at an Italian 4th division club, which is probably the equivalent of playing for Poole Town over here.

Fourth division equivalent over there would be the same as Northampton, Bournemouth, etc etc here.

In pretty much every other country, the football pyramid turns to shit after the top two (or at most three) leagues - no where else has the depth that we do in England. The Italian 4th division level is at best, equivalent to the Blue Square Premier but that is being generous.

Isn't even Serie C a lower standard than BSP? Seem to remember they get a few hundred average gates at best at Serie C level, if that's any guide

Their league 4, is pub league standard, even Darlington would muller  the top teams in that league.

The pro leagues in Italy are; Serie A, Serie B, Lega Pro Prima (two parallel leagues), Lega Pro Seconda (three parallel leagues). Average attendances for the bottom tier this season is 782, so as I said its BSP standard at best and that's being very generous.

We have higher average attendances in League One than they do in Serie B.

To be fair, quite often in the last 10 years you hear of Italians, French, Spannish fans comming over here watching a lower league game and being shocked that League 2 standard footballers are paid professional footballers.

I thought the weather would be better too, but oh no, its fucking freezing in Italy in the winter. League 4 over there is our sunday league.

You wouldnt get paid for it. Casper Schmiechel is on £15k a week at Notts County. That must be a world record lower league football waste of money.

There is in Kanyuka's interview. http://video.clon.ro/video/47212/patrick-kanyuka-isi-doreste-sa-ramana-la-cfr-cluj (http://video.clon.ro/video/47212/patrick-kanyuka-isi-doreste-sa-ramana-la-cfr-cluj)

Amazing that we've offloaded fringe players to Norwich, Aberdeen and Cluj this year. Gives hope that we might actually make some decent money if we needed to move any of our good performers on. To think that we used to sign players with that little research.

The Sporting Lisbon fan who I took to the Yeovil game, was very impresed with the standard...much better than she thought it would be.

The Bayer Leverkusen fan who came to Charlton v Swindon on boxing day was

A - Surprised at how close to the pitch the fans sit and
B - That nobody threw anything onto the pitch.
