Title: Rovers Away
Post by: Langers on Sunday, December 6, 2009, 09:55:41
Where is everyone sitting/standing?

Terrace or Standing? Thinking of getting tickets on the Terrace.

Sadly I have family commitments, which is a bit of a shame considering this is probably the closest game to Cardiff.

Not sure how many we were allocated in the tent, but I don't think it was the whole of it

I am suprised they split us up would have made sense to do the same as last season - all in the tent with no terrace available

I found this on Rover's OS:

STADIUM CAPACITY LEAGUE MATCHES CUP MATCHES
AREA    HOME AWAY HOME AWAY
Bass Terrace 3,710 0 3,710 0
Uplands Terrace    2,327 0 2,327 0
Family Terrace    721 0 721    0
DAS Terrace    1,100 0 1,100 0
Uplands Stand    1,160 0 1,160 0
DAS Stand    710 0   710 0
Becks South Stand 743 265 502 506
Away Terrace    0 933   0 933
Disabled Wheelchair Spaces 17 5 17 5
Ambulant Disabled 63 0   63 0

So I guess that it is 933+265 = 1,198

I'll probably park up near Gloucester Road somewhere and head to a pub of others' choosing

No, sorry. I didn't ask yesterday and I can't find it anywhere else.

Hi a Gashead here!. Look forward to a cracking game on Saturday. The allocation for Swindon can have many different theories. The minimum allocation is 800 terrace tickets and 300 stand tickets which is 1100. But I will be very suprised if we only allocate so few bearing in mind you brought around 1100 when you were below mid table last season.
The second theory is 800 terrace and around 900 stand tickets which is 1700. That's how many Leeds brought but technically the terrace area can hold 1000 if needed and Leeds only had 800 terrace because the home fans used up the 3rd stile. So because it was a 11700 sell out the home fans used an area which could be given to away fans.

The third theory is Swindon could have 1000 terrace and 900 stand which is 1900. We as home fans will not sell out our home allocation so in theory Swindon could have the lot ??.

Something I noticed is that we are not selling any tickets for the becks south stand. Which indicates Swindon as the lot. However,  I noticed on your website you have only limited seating avaliable. So it could only be 1100.

I would hope it was the full 1,900 as 1,100 is a bit of a joke for a local derby.

IMO Rovers away was the best atmosphere I experienced last season in terms of the continuous noise our support made.

But I think that was the only away game I went anyway. Actually were Cheltenham in our division last season? Went to that too.

Thanks for making it clearer  :)

Sorry mate that is a bit confussing. I reckon you will be given 800 terrace and 300 stand as starters. Then if you need them you will be granted the entire South stand. Another words around 1700 tickets. If you click on our ticket link you will find we are not selling South stand tickets. I don't think the police will open up sterile 3 in the terrace as on big games the Gas young un's like to get up close to away fans but of course well seperated.

So I reckon 1700 tops which I think you will sell given the form team of this leauge. For £2.50 more get a stand ticket it's worth it lads...

Who knows the Bristol North public are unpredictable. Our average gate is 7,400 same as yours. So in theory we ought to have around 8,000 home fans and THE REDS about 1500. So between 9,000 and 10,000. But we could only have 7,500 or if they turn up it could be anything up to 11,000. My guess is 9,000 ish.....

But you guys could boost the gate by selling your allocation and asking for more and more. The grounds big enough. Not looking forward to playing you guys. Can't rememmber the last time we actually beat you!.

Unfortunatly, your spot on!. Went to the ticket office today and explained I couldn't get a Becks South Stand ticket online. But managed to get one right bythe TOWN fans. This is what the office said...

Our initial allocation to TOWN was 800 terrace 300 Beck South Stand. We decided to hold up the sale for home fans because we thought Swindon would sell out the 1100 by last weekend. However, when we rang there office yesterday they only sold just over 700 with 400 to sell. Therefore, we decided to allow the other 600 tickets in the South Stand to go to home fans.

Therefore, TOWN will have 1100 tickets only. Currently, there are plenty left. Sothampton & Leeds sold 1100 tickets in a few days and were awarded up to 1700 in total. Am really suprised you haven't sold 1100 ages ago. If you had then another 600 would of come.

Not trying to be funny just a little puzzled why the form team of the division can't sell 1100 tickets in days. I understand TOWN are going to promote you still have tickets left for saturday in fact 400...

25th December - Christmas Day
26th December - Charlton (A) at £25 per ticket
28th December - Yeovil (H)
2nd January - Fulham (A)

That's 3 attractive games and Christmas in the space of about a week (ok Yeovil's not that attractive but it's a home game and people are off work!). I'd imagine people are avoiding Rovers because they're looking at an expensive end to the month.

Dont think we've ever been ones for buying in advance, its so rare that you have to. Is it pay on the gate?

A few years back against Chester away we sold about 250 tickets and about 1,000 turned up. The food was sold out before I even got there.

Mate I am a S.T holder but we have a complex system for the Becks south stand. If big teams play and sell all the 900 seats we are kicked out and relocated. On this one we held up selling in order to determine the away interst. As it was ROVERS felt TOWN will not sell many more than 1100 in total. Therefore, we are now able to sit right next to TOWN fans. You have 300 seats we have 600 seats. I went in to collect my Beck South Stand ticket and exchanged for voucher 11.

But I also understand you have Charlton & Fulham away which in a sense justifies why your average fan can't afford so much money. To pay £60-70 in December for away fans is a lot of cash for TOWN fans...

Not a criticism, merely a query whether you have some sort of football club tourettes or something.

Yeah, because the rest of the ground is pure luxury.

I can see I am the subject of lots of stick and banter. But I do hope you will respect the 2 minutes silence since the death of Ron Craig. Like you we are a family club and Ron brought so much passion to his role. When he took over around spring 2007 things changed quickly. Like you we gained promotion, got to a J.P.T final in Cardiff and managed to get to the last 8 of the F.A cup.

On saturday black arm bands will be worn and it will be an emotional affair for players and fans alike. Our brilliant manager Paul Trollope never forgot the support he got as a young manager. I know despite the banter you will respect this deep hole felt by Gasheads....

I recommend drinking Weston's cider in the Wetherspoons next to Temple Meads.

I recommend this man is a clown!. If you think you can walk in Bristol central in a known C.S.F pub and start drinking cider then you aint got much sense. Even before you reach the North side.

Your local knowledge of Bristol inner city is laughable !. You will be easy picking by the Reds side. Ignore this man!....

Although if you do, you'll be hammered before you even reach the Gloucester Road :D

The walk up the hill sobers you up quick. I never did get to stop off at Bath on the way back either. I was very thirsty.

Not frowned upon just common sense!. True when city play away to big teams the weatherspoon is quiet. But they have Donny on saturday and no-one's going. Asked 4 city fans at work , " What's doing on sat". They said, " Going down for cheap beer at the weatherspoon". The place is packed when C.S.F as a day off. Only giving advice. The inner city part of Bristol is well dodgy!!.

I wouldn't go a mile near the place ever... Why take risks when you can avoid them ?.

Didn't claim to have any local knowledge, I merely described what I and a few did last time I went which was a bit tongue in cheek knowing that most wouldn't contemplate drinking such a tipple on a match day, save a few of us alcoholic types. It's a convenient watering hole for anyone not wanting to rush around to catch a train.

Bristol is dodgy in general. For all we know you're a scout and you're rounding up all your mates with baseball bats ready for when the 'Swindon pub' is announced on here. My advice to anyone would be keep any real plans out of the public domain.

The only action I saw was on Gloucester Road and it put me off going back. Was fine in the spoons, didn't wear any colours or badges or sing any Swindon songs. That pub seems to be popular with rugby fans more than anything.

In fairness, The Inn By The Green was a bit tasty a couple of years ago, to say the least.

It was fine last time I went, but they didn't let anybody in with colours on I don't think.

I've been out a lot in Bristol and have experienced nothing to say it is any more "dodgy" than any city in the evening.  Before a game if you wear no colours and don't make a racket there will be no problems.  This guy sounds like a 12 year old with aspirations of hooliganism (I hate that word).

Title: Re: Rovers Away
Post by: Spy on Thursday, December 10, 2009, 11:29:41
Having lived in Bristol for years I can confirm this bloke (and a lot of people in this thread) are exaggerating. Yes there was the notorious Inn in the Green incident but it is not like being in a warzone. Especially if you avoid the pubs around the ground which are pretty much all thoroughly Rovers i am sure everyone will be fine.

There are some great pubs further down Glos Rd, down the hill towards the town centre. As for the suggestion all the pubs in the centre are full of CSF and you will get battered if a few of you go in Weatherspoons next to the station well that is absolute bollocks  :soapy tit wank: :soapy tit wank:.

Yes it will be an edgy derby atmosphere Saturday and there may well be "trouble" but Swindon fans shouldn't be afraid to go to this game. That would be ridiculous imo.
