It's the decade I've finally stopped buying the piece of shit NME. Their are good albums in there but an awful lot of shit that's only in because the news editor of the paper fancies the singer.

Its just a little clique of kids sitting in london thinking that they can define whats cool (note - whats 'cool' not whats good)

Top 50 albums this decade? I don't think i know anymore than 2 or 3 of those albums. Those that i do know would only make my top 50 because i've bought less than 50 albums this decade.

Think I've only got Spirtualized out of that lot. Not a bad thing.

In opposition to this complete mess of a list, we need to compile a TEF Top 50.

Seriously, I own two of the albums on that list, and I don't even think the Arctic Monkeys album was that good.

29 and love is hell are both vastly better ryan adams albums than gold.

I have 6 of those albums.

A TEF Top 50 is definitely needed.

Can I nominate Snow Patrol - Final Straw. One of my favourites

hmmm i have 14 of them, that list is hardly inspiring, the only album on there for me that was truly rocking was the artic monkeys and possibly the libertines. Rings around the world is not even the SFA best album of the decade.

I own about 15-20 at a cursory glance, just cos sometimes you acquire these albums for no apparent reason/buy it based on 1 song etc.

It's a cunting rubbish list.

Got a dozen of those. I reckon apart from promoting NME (which ain't what it used to be) these lists are often only mildly interesting as by the other side of Christmas (with the same people voting) they'd probably get 50 different ones !

I think I have 16 of those. I don't think it's a bad list, it's a pretty decent list and far better than most top album lists but it's missing any dance and doesn't have much hip-hop. Run come save me is a glaring omission and so is High Society. I think Muse's best album was origin of symmetry and that would be in my top 10. Good to see relationship of command in there although it's far too low. I'd definitely have glasvegas by glasvegas in there, that's a extremely underrated album and I created disco is a superb album. Original pirate material absolutely deserves it's place in the top 10 but a grand don't come for free was nothing special. Discovery by Daft Punk is one of the best of the decade too.

I actually think the last decade has been a great decade for music but a lot of the best albums weren't that popular.

Since the evolution of mp3 players with shuffle facility, I rarely listen to full albums any more, in the way that I used to with an LP, (when you automatically started singing the next sog before it started). When you have 3000 songs or whatever on your ipod, I am now too impatient to listen to a full album, and am always tempted flick on.. for me the album is dying. I only have about 10 of these albums, but have individual songs from well over half.

Anyway, if anyone can be arsed to compile a TEF top 50 albums, my 3 are

Glasvegas - Glasvegas (3 points)
Hard Fi - Stars of CCTV (2 points)
Muse - Black holes and revelations (1 point)

With honourable mentions to

Killers - Hot fuss
Tings Tings - We started nothing
Kasabian - Kasabian
Kings of Leon - Only by the night
Kooks - Inside Out

I'll sort out organising a TEF list seeing as there's considerable interest. Do you think it's best to get people to pick 3,5, 10 or what?

Libertines are also overrated. But there are some good albums in there, nobody listens to NME anymore anyway?!

Hush your noise.

I only have 20 albums in that list, which suprised me a bit. For right or wrong i quite like NME, and tend to agree with thier musical opinions

Muse - Absolution only at 48 or 49? Fucking hell. That album has some amazing riffs and melodies. Good to see Interpol in there though. That album is class.

A lot of the albums i thought were this decade were actually the 90's. Very little has stood out since 00.

Calexico-Hot Rail.
Bloodhound Gang-Hefty Fine.
Glasvegas-Glasvegas.
Powderfinger-Odyssey Number Five.
MachineGun Fellatio-Bring it on.

And artic monkeys= pile of shite imo.

Urgh. This is tough. I've had a terrible memory and staying power with music for the last 5 years or so.

There's loads of albums on that list that I listened too once before forgetting about them.

Let's see
The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse Present: Dark Night of the Soul
The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike
Gorillaz - Demon Days
Errr... There are some more, I just can't think for a sec.

Didn't get a proper release. Got internet released though. They leaked it themselves and then sold cd cases with the art work but with a blank cd inside.

Agree. Don't get the shitty radio bits in SFTD for a start. And there's about 3 decent songs on it the rest are a bit naff.
