Title: Weekend Bets
Post by: Spy on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 08:37:31
What are peoples bets this weekend?

I have finally finished my losing streak. £60 up last weekend and won money last night on France on the rugby (which was a really good game too). I had few quid on France to win by 6-10 points.

I've got a few accumulators on  today...

ireland vs. FRANCE
brentford vs MILLWALL
england vs brazil

£4 returns £72

*********************************************

HUDDERSFIELD vs wycombe
NORWICH vs tranmere
crewe vs MORECOMBE  which I was surprised to see on my slip cos its not a match I wanted to bet must have marked the wrong box. its a bad bet too. morecombe won at home 3-1 last weekend but crewe won 4-0 away at Cheltenham

£3 returns £20

*********************************************

ireland vs FRANCE
brentford vs MILLWALL
crewe vs MORECOMBE again!  :soapy tit wank: ::)
NORWICH vs tranmere

£3 returns £81

I suppose the lesson here is always check your betting slip before you leave the bookies

Spy - I couldnt back France to win in Ireland. In fact I wouldn't back any team to win in Ireland, there support is worth a one goal start every time.

Yeah they seem quite strong at home. It was "bet of the week" in metro though. I'm quite liable to take tips from papers.

HUDDERSFIELD vs wycombe
NORWICH vs tranmere
crewe vs MORECOMBE

Looks like this is winning me £20. So long as Tranmere don't equalise.

My mistake of betting on Morecombe didn't count against me, theuy're 2-0 up. :soapy tit wank: :soapy tit wank:

Still looking for a big pick up this month, I believe I have the winning formula for tonight and cannot believe how generous the bookies are being.

BIG BET even for me - WOLFSBURG 5/4 & JUVENTUS 4/5 in a double - pays just over 3/1
Small interest treble (sorry DMR putting the two above with) STANDARD LIEGE 4/1 - pays 20.5 or 41/2 in fractions.

I might copy you.

Do you think that double is a banker?

How much are you staking?

Nothing is a banker in football, especially European nights, very really do I have a punt on them.
Just they are very generous odds imo, I've only had one pick up this month and that returned £600 but I'm still well down. For the first time in 2 years I will have to deposit money into my account if my double does not come up, that show what a bad run I've been on. There was over £5,000 sitting there at the beginning of the season. The small bet is for £40, the larger bet is for a hell of a lot more.

What has domestic football got to do with European nights - and Dutch football, well enough said?

You have a good point about the Dutch league, its a very poor standard. I was just letting you know, so don't shoot the messenger!!

I wish you luck though, hope your bets come in.

I know...   WHO WANTS TO TOUCH ME?

There's a system to accumulators, but I can be fucked if I can suss it.  My mate used to whack a tenner on four or five teams and win consistently, netting about 50 quid each time in the process.  I'd love to take the credit, but my win was a total fluke.  God knows I needed it though...  anyone got any tips for the wankend?

I know...   WHO WANTS TO TOUCH ME?

 :soapy tit wank:

I used to pick 5 or 6 and put a few quid on it but now I'm more likely to pick 3 or 4 and put £10 or £20 on it. I haven't had a look at the fixtures for this weekend yet. I usually pick up a weekend slip Thursday then think about what to bet on during work Friday.

When doing Accumalators do the same bet but perm them..will cost more but a few results say 4 out of six will nearly get your stake back.....its a way of having a bet to nearly nothing most times.

Title: Re: Weekend Bets
Post by: walrus on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 11:13:00
Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by "perm"?  I can only guess you're referring to four-fold bets on say six teams or something...  I've tried that but seem to end up winning less than my original stake!!  I'm going to pour over the form guides this week, only to be undone by a last minute goal by Tamworth...

Title: Re: Weekend Bets
Post by: DMR on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 11:48:18
I assume leefer means an x-fold as well, although like you say walrus, even getting your stake back normally means hitting at least 4/5 or 5/6 so might as well just go with an accumulator anyway.

Fold bets/lucky 15/31's etc are only worth bothering with if you have 4 or more selections at a good price, say 4 or 5/1 and upwards or you'll never see a return.

Title: Re: Weekend Bets
Post by: Spy on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 12:30:55

Don't think I do. I'll do an accumulator.

Title: Re: Weekend Bets
Post by: walrus on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 13:59:57
To be honest I don't like betting on internationals, the odds are too long and it's tricky to spot an upset.  I've just whacked a whopping £3 on England, to win about 70p....

Title: Re: Weekend Bets
Post by: Spy on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, 16:05:47
But what can you buy with £3? Quite a bit... a meal, a magasine, cigarettes, alcohol... What can you buy with 70p? Fuck all really.

On the other hand it is very likely to happen then you could put that 70p into another accumulator on Saturday...

Exactly my thoughts!!  Tonight Skybet are doing 100/30 enhanced treble on Spain England and Portugal, if that floats your boat although I am a bit of a cynic and bit wary of these...

iv tried a new bet recently. been backing games to have more over 0.5 goals by half time and havent lost yet in 3 weeks of weeknd bets. the shameful rovers goals actually contributed. It takes the pressure off having to work out who is going to win as you just need 1 goal. for each team it works out as about 1.40 to a £1 but if you get 5 teams which i usually do you can get around 4/1 in an accumilator. iv only been doing £10 bets but seems to work.

out of interest on sat i looked at half time scores from the championship and league 1 and out of 22 matches only 4 were 0-0. worth taking a look at!

Intriguing...  so you pick 5 games and if by half time there is at least a goal in each you win at 4/1?  I don't know if I have the option of doing this on skybet unless it's for the Prem games but will have a butchers...

Had Everton, Celtic, Chelsea and Villa to win yesterday at 4/1... but only stuck a quid on which I duly regret.

indeedy it just seems so much more easier than worrying about which teams gonna win  :D the odds are minimal but if u do 5 teams it shud be alright to get near 5/1. u dont get the exciting £100's off a £1 that an accumilator brings but for me it defo has more success rate. take a look at this wknds half time scores and look how many are nil nils.(now jinxed). i had to open a willhill account to do this and closed my skybet. skybet only seemed to offer over 1.5 goals but willhill lets you do anything. if you throw in the odd over 1.5 goals then obv. your returns will fly up but im just sticking for the one goal for now!

I've always assumed they use 0.5 just to make the betting simpler. Over 0.5 goals means 1 or more goals. Under 0.5 goals means 0 goals.

They could use any number between 0 and 1 (0.0000001, 0.55, 0.9 for example) but it has to be between them so you can do over and under. With 0.5 being the most logical as it is halfway between 0 and 1.

I guess they could say 0 or 1 or more, but then the 0.5 works well with handicap betting - if a team is given a 0.5 head start then there will always be a winner.

Had Robbie Keane to score first and Celtic to win 4-0 (final score 3-0 - Keane Hat trick)

Also have Defoe to score first and Spurs to win 3-1. Currently the Defoe bit is on, 2-0 to Spurs 68 minutes gone. Come on!!

Would have been a belter. Auxerre conceded an equaliser in the last minute and then scored straight away! I could do with real scoring soon, feyenoord winning, if that stays the same then I just need Cardiff to win tomorrow for 35 notes.

the big tip is that the result has been fixed to be a draw. No surprise there for an Italian match, right?

True, but not when you have people betting more than GBP100,000 on a drawn game four days before the match.

That’s the “action” that had already gone down in a few online sports-books, as well as betting exchanges, such as Betfair, on Wednesday evening. Incidentally, all other matches being offered for early betting had no more than GBP5,000 laid on any of the possible outcomes — home-win, draw or away-win.

any guesses to what the game finished as?

 ::) 1-1 DRAW

but no i didn bet on it

What's everyone going for this weekend then?
I've gone for:

Blackburn v MAN UTD
Blackpool v BOLTON
SUNDERLAND v Wolverhampton
West Brom v Everton - Draw

Going to sit down with the Racing Post a bit later as well, and see what I fancy. Tips welcome.

Nah, had a long break so I fancy Hannon to have him fully wound up, think TO is the big danger myself, class horse, dont think they'd have him back over a mile unless they fancied him.
