Title: CM5 v FM Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, June 3, 2005, 08:58:45 Had this discussion before i know but the other day i thought i would start up a game of FM and it pissed me right off.
I sit there for hours cos the game is so slow and the menus take an age to figure out what to do and where everything is. Hence i put it back in the draw where it has been since i brought it. (Anyone want it???) So i have now purchased CM5 as i play CM03-04 at work and think it is one of the best they have produced. I have read reviews saying it's better than FM so for £9 off Play i thought fuck it. has anyone else got both or played both. Whats your views?? Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:01:27 My mate bought it for the x-box, and sent it back because it was toss apparently.
Another mate has bought it, but I think plays FM still, maybe that speaks for itself, he did say it was rubbish too. End of an era? Title: CM5 v FM Post by: McLovin on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:03:46 FM works like lightning on my pc, so i have no need to try CM as it's the mutt's nuts.
Title: CM5 v FM Post by: magicroundabout on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:05:00 Quote End of an era? Indeed  Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:05:29 Ummm, FM is slow on mine too, but for what reason I'm not sure. Think it may have something to do with running the large data base.
I can't be arsed to start again, so I've basically given up on it, probably until the next edition is out. Title: CM5 v FM Post by: yeo on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:22:47 I have been trying to play CM this week and just havent been able to get into it but I'd say the differences between them are pretty small and CM is no way as bad as its made out to be.
Fm plays quick on my computer but Cm is slow(I probably need to install the patch) My conclusion is that Football managaement games are intended for the winter months so............ Why dont you switch off your Pc and go outside and do something less boring instead, why dont you, whhhhy doooont yooooou :P (you have to be a certain age to understand what im on about here) Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:23:50 That 'certain age' is presumably over 25?

Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:48:46 You're up early Sonic.
03/04 was definately the best CM incarnation. It was also the game I managed to get furthest into the future with. I did find that it became quite easy though, so I set myself up as a new manager for Preston (why not eh) in god know's what year and got them from relegation fodder in Div2 to Premiership contenders, all in the shrotest time possible. I loved that game, I even spent a week in Majorca playing it in the sun on my dad's laptop - I'm that sad. Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, June 3, 2005, 09:49:57 Why don't you? I think they were still doing that when I was a kid. I do remember the "whyyyyy donnnn't yoooouuu" bit at the start anyway
Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Piemonte on Friday, June 3, 2005, 10:09:08 I remember why dont you and I'm 26.
I overplayed FM2005 and thought it was great. I've not played it for 3 months now and cant really be arsed to get back into it right now. When I do load it up though I've got 10 games of the season left with Swindon on course to make the champions league. 8) Yeovil is right. Football management games are for the winter when theres nowt better to do. As soon as it gets cold i can redevote my life to FM, much to the mrs discust. Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Johno on Friday, June 3, 2005, 10:18:46 yeh, tis true! bring on the winter :beers:
Title: CM5 v FM Post by: walrus on Friday, June 3, 2005, 10:21:22 It's not an end of an era. CM5 is the start of a new series, FM2005 is the continuation of the CM series. Complicated I know, but it's to do with licensing rights etc.
Go to the forums on www.sigames.com FM2005 fucking rules, a superb game, I'm addicted. 5 or so hours a day at the mo! :) Title: CM5 v FM Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, June 3, 2005, 12:12:19 Football manager's easily the best ever I think, haven't played it for a while now 'cos when I do I tend to play it too much 'cos it's so good. Decided to take a break once I'd got Swindon to win the champions league.
