Standard is fully functional but does not rip copy protected DVDs, that is left to the Ultra version. # The Standard version is free but you have to join the site and pay a fee to get the Ultra version. I actually use DVD shrink but I can't remember if it can rip to anything but ISO and I'm not on the computer with it installed. Title: Re: I need to rip a load of DVD's to AVI... You seem to need a few different pieces of software to remove the various protection methods (and figure out which one to use for each DVD) and then another piece of software to actually rip the DVD. All a bit of a mess and I couldn't be bothered.
I now use Handbrake to convert video which seems pretty good. It can rip DVD's as well and I'm pretty certain there are ways to get it to remove protection automatically with the help of other software.
