I haven't had lardy for years, my nan used to get it for us all the time, I've been wondering what's been missing from half-time.

I don't think they teach you about bagels at school.

I've never skidded down a big hill, at 60mph, on my belly, on a teatray, on a Friday, on a four day stag do, in Prague before.

 Bloody ell Castles went about 10years ago.....Wilf was chairman of STFC for years.....they'd deliver a lardy to your door.

 Eric Lane's pork butchers in Wood Street went a couple of years before, Eric was chairman after Wilf, when we won the LC. When Eric jacked it in in his 70's.. that was it as regards getting the necessary ingredients for a decent home made faggot.

I am part Polish and I have just discovered from my Dad that they originated from Krakow in Poland.  It is another of example of the Americans trying to claim native foods from other countries as their own.  Very much like they did with the pizza, which is obviously an Italian dish.

They've sort of tried to do that with U2 aswell.  Bad form.

 But the U2 was their spy plane which the Russians shot down.....and tehy own Ireland don't they?

My Mum saw Bono from U2 with his family at a fair in St Tropez, France.

Was down in Dorset last week, found one bakers which still does them and had a couple of bits. Nice, but not how I remember my gran's in the 70's.

Anyway, I asked one of the bakers and she told me it's very hard to get hold of them now, something to do with the animal fat etc, didn't understand what she was going on about really but it seems that she was saying that bakers down there would like to make them/sell them etc but leglisation/health and safety etc is stopping it.

Bakery in  Burford does them - often pop in on the way down from Brum.  I think they're vile but the teenage sons love 'em
