Title: Alone in the Wild Post by: Sippo on Friday, September 11, 2009, 11:12:21 Anyone else see this on Ch4 last night?
Thought it was good, not sure about eating porcupine though! Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: flammableBen on Friday, September 11, 2009, 11:27:25 He's rubbish. Ray Mears would have had an international airport sorted by day 5.
His bear paranoia was hilarious. I'd like to see him get gang raped by Rupert, Paddington and Pooh. Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: Sippo on Friday, September 11, 2009, 11:28:33 Surely that's what made it better Ben? Someone who is inexperienced, someone who is generally shit scared.
Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: flammableBen on Friday, September 11, 2009, 11:33:18 Oh yeah. It's certainly entertaining. Although there is something a bit morally murky about a man being ditched in the middle of nowhere and tuning in to watch him record his own slow starvation.

Thought it was good, not sure about eating porcupine though! Meant to be living in the wild....then took out a rifle and shot the poor porcupine!!!...also had an electric fence round him to stop the bears getting in...sort of contradicted the whole program for me to be honest...probably had an electric blanket tucked away someware. ''Shot the poor porcupine !'' What else was he supposed to do ? Bleedin strangle it ? Mears has a problem with Bear Grills, not bears. Admittedly though,(after Jehova's Witnesses and double-glazing salesmen) bears are the most dangerous species known to man. Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: flammableBen on Friday, September 11, 2009, 18:54:33 That porcupine liver he was nibbling on looked pretty fucking tasty.

The point i was making was that sleeping inside an electric fence...then pulling out a rifle then shooting a porcupine isnt my idea of....well living in the wild,i turned over so i didnt really grasp the idea of the show...the messege i got was he was scared of bears...arnt we all. Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: Hammer on Friday, September 11, 2009, 19:23:32 That porcupine liver he was nibbling on looked pretty fucking tasty. The livers of small animals usually are Ben. Hence the best pate is constructed from chicken's liver as opposed to that from a pig or sheep. When my guinea pig died, I.....oh never mind. A good point well made Leefer. I shall now correspond with the Executive of C4, insisting that, in future, they accommodate a porcupine-flap into the electric fence, thus giving the impression it was a fair and necessary porcupine fatality. Furthermore, don't watch tv in bed unless you are able to concentrate fully on the programme content, unless, of course, it is a reasonable quality porno. Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: leefer on Friday, September 11, 2009, 20:04:55 Like it..fair play....just not into these pretend ime in wild programs.....is there such a thing as poor quality porno.
Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: yeo on Friday, September 11, 2009, 21:11:54 I thought it was quite boring, not sure what we were supposed to be watching and entertained by?
I guess it was either the paranoia, the weight loss or the beard. I felt sorry for the porcupine and a bit sorry for the fish,if a Bear had groweled at him or eaten his Marmalade sandwiches.... Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: 4D on Friday, September 11, 2009, 23:57:38 I enjoyed it......he wasn't supposed to be an expert (I'd have shot the squirrel on day 2 let alone the porky pine on day nine) :)
Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: flammableBen on Friday, September 11, 2009, 23:59:46 I enjoyed it......he wasn't supposed to be an expert (I'd have shot the squirrel on day 2 let alone the porky pine on day nine) :) Yeah I enjoyed it too. I was almost shouting at the screen when he was complaining about being hungry but didn't shoot the squirrel. The desperation bought on by hunger leading to his 180 on finally capping that porcupine made for some good telly. Title: Re: Alone in the Wild Post by: Sippo on Friday, September 25, 2009, 07:26:46 Finished last night. He only lasted 50 days, but to be fair his heart rate did go down to 28bpm.
