Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 14:52:54 It may have sounded a bit of an anal question, but I have just applied for a job as an SEO content writer and it'd be a bit silly to miss out cos' of a lack of attention to detail.
I had to send them a 100-150 review on a service or product of my choice. It is surprisingly difficult to write something meaningful in so few words, I did it in 150 words exactly. Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 14:54:55 In that sort of job attention to detail is everything, make sure you didn't under count and write 151 words...now that would be bad! :D
Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 16:40:57 I was recently introduced to this simple site http://d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y.com/.
At almost 35 I could be considered to be half way through my life, yet half my life I was spelling it "definately". I also still need to remind myself that "I before E, except after C". Am I the only one? Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 16:47:53 I DEFINATELY agree!
Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 16:48:45 "Necessary" is the one that always gets me.
Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 16:53:04 I will see your "necessary", and raise you "necessarily".
Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: @MacPhlea on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 16:57:59 it's 'i' before 'e' except after 'c' unless 'i' am in 'their'

At almost 35 I could be considered to be half way through my life, yet half my life I was spelling it "definately". I also still need to remind myself that "I before E, except after C". Am I the only one? Helps if you remember that the word is a derivative of 'finite'. Learning foreign languages (and particularly Latin) can really help in cases like these. Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: Sussex on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 17:03:56 "Necessary" is the one that always gets me. One collar, two socks. Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. At almost 35 I could be considered to be half way through my life, yet half my life I was spelling it "definately". Thank fuck that wasn't just me. Up until a couple of years ago I was convinced every spell checker I'd used was broken, no matter which way I tried spelling that word it always rejected it, until my bird told me how to spell it properly. Post by: Talk Talk on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 22:59:06 or 'science' and numerous derivatives thereof 'I before E except after C' has always made me think of one word - ceiling. As in words that start with a C. I can't think of any others..? Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. Post by: Talk Talk on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 23:01:12 I would also just like to have another rant about the use of 'of'.
As in 'I could of'. ARRRRGHHHHH. It is 'I could have'. That's better now, I can go to bed happy. Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage. It's just something my old English teacher taught me, and it's stuck for over 20 years. Your's rolls off the tongue like a ball bag on barbed wire :-) Title: Re: Mental blockage helpage.
