Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 17:47:44 the merlin used to allow kids, don't think that's changed recently. the winners will only let you in if you've got matchday tickets/season tickets last time i tried.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: michael on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 17:49:03 On the subject of child friendly pubs, I have heard that the Flag is being tidied up a bit.
Anyone got any news on this for me? Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: penhill red on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 17:49:39 Cheers. Does it have ESPN and stay open till 8 o clock then? Don't mean to sound patronising just need to plan so i can keep the kid happy too.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Ninja Elephant on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 00:06:32 When I was in the Savoy before the Christian Roberts match, there were kids in there. Acting like little shits though, if we're honest! I was just sitting down to :eatkf: when a few went running past our table shouting all sorts of things. Little parasites those kids were, I trust yours are better behaved. ;)
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: The Grim Reaper on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 08:42:35 Ah what happened to the traditional pub? So many good pubs spoilt by kids running riot! One pub I really like is The Dockle Farmhouse with being a Wetherspoons openly invites children. I'm not usually fussed by kids in pubs its just this particular pub seems to attract the worst shitbags out there for some reason!
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: grubby on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 09:15:13 I'm not sure if the Winners has ESPN. If I can remember from the southend game they were not showing the game that was on.

Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, September 10, 2009, 16:06:22 Pubs shouldn't have kids in them...end of....beer gardens maybe. What Reginald said. And on the rare occasion that my little'un joins me at my local, under no circumstances do I let her bother the other patrons. I go to the pub to drink and relax, not to babysit other peoples kids. The Flag has suffered from the fact that the managers have disappeared!!Anyone got any news on this for me? Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: nevillew on Friday, September 11, 2009, 07:27:31 Pubs shouldn't have kids in them...end of....beer gardens maybe. Spot on Reg. And hats off the the Blunsdon arms, which doesn't allow the little blighters in. :D :D :D Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, September 11, 2009, 12:49:40 And they didn't accept the apology and guest invite but went to the local rag to moan about it further.
I can see where Molly gets it from, the fuckers. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Luci on Friday, September 11, 2009, 17:31:31 Spot on Reg. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Doore on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:12:21 Pubs are for adults. What is the point in a family pub? Don't people have living rooms?
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Chubbs on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:33:39 Pubs are for adults. What is the point in a family pub? Don't people have living rooms? who said pubs are for adults? under the correct circumstances i dont see why children shuolnt be allowed into pubs, like before a cirtain time, ok, im not saying bring your child down to yates on a friday evening, but i dont see anything wrong with places like the dockle of woodlands edge allowing children. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Doore on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:40:16 I said pubs are for adults, that's who. You have to put up with other people's kids everywhere - the pub should be a haven from this. I can't imagine kids enjoy pubs much anyway - take them to the zoo or the park. Watching your dad drink lager can't be a great way to spend your childhood.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: BANGKOK RED on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:50:30 Not everybody likes having kids running around making a nuisance of themselves, myself included.
Personally I have two escapes from the stresses of fatherhood, one is when at work and the other is when at the boozer. It would not be so bad if the parents kept them under control but unfortunately too many parents seem to care little about the other patrons wish to relax and so the kids are left to run riot and do things such as fuck up the balls on the pool table. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 11:56:42 There'd be more child friendly pubs if there were more pub friendly children.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Fred Elliot on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 12:01:51 I have taken Jenna to child friendly pubs and I have also taken her to my Local, which in all honesty isnt.
For me and IMO its more to do with the behavior of the kids (and parents) once inside. I am not saying that Jenna is an angel but she does know how to show respect for other people, and that is why she is always welcomed in the New Inn. Sometimes I think that the parents are almost as bad as the kids that they let run riot Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 15:48:31 Have to say I think 8pm is too late for kids to be in a pub.
I guess the line has been blurred a bit with things like Hungry Horses and stuff. But a proper pub is for adults. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: penhill red on Sunday, September 13, 2009, 15:52:39 Most decent pubs have a lounge and a bar, hence kids are allowed in the lounge til 7-8ish but not the bar. People who hate kids in pubs sit in the bar. Works fine
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Monday, September 14, 2009, 10:30:58 Why don't we just have kids pubs
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: donkey on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:07:46 Why don't we just have kids pubs Places like Hungry Horse are (I know that's not what you meant, but...). It means I can ignore places like that with all the kids in them, and go to plaxces where kids aren't allowed. It's like towny pubs, I can ignore them too and merrily drink away in the real ale pubs. I know which pubs I'm welcome in and which I'm not (one by Sandwell and Dudley train station, no fucker appears to be welcome in). Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:45:17 Yeah, I'm boring when it comes down to this, but it is the market that decides.
If landlords can make more income by attracting families with food and add-ons then they will. If they can make the same or better by excluding children then they will do that. It ends up as a mix and there is a place for everyone. As in the Blunsdon Arms excludes children and attracts the DINKYS and older patrons, the Hungry Horrors attract the rabble families and the in-between pubs will get well behaved families in but probably with time limits. Believe in the market. PS there is no point moaning if your favourite pub changes policy. Vote with your feet and find one that suits you better. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Doore on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:47:34 DINKYS? Sorry, but what does this mean?
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:49:00 DINKYS? Sorry, but what does this mean? Dual Income No Kids Yet So, so 80's... :D Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:50:37 People bringing babies into pubs annoys the fuck out of me.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:51:54 People bringing babies into pubs annoys the fuck out of me. Then go to a pub that doesn't allow them. Or douse them in Sambuca and set fire to them. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Doore on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:52:05 Ah, I see. I'm a DINKY (or part of one perhaps?) and never even knew it. You learn something everyday. Cheers.
Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 20:58:16 It's very much hard work to research what pubs do or don't allow kids in and then find it, I much prefer going to the nearest one to wherever I am.
Don't really mind kids in there, just screaming babies. Title: Re: Child Friendly Pubs Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, 21:00:08 I propose we gather a group of people to turn up pissed at the creche and see how they like it 8)

Cheers. It's a fair point. People who haven't got (or are not going to have) children hate the little blighters being in there. After you have had them and they are weeing/shitting little bundles of fun or toddlers then you can restore some sanity in your life by being able to go and and quaff ale with them in tow. Once they grow up a bit and they are off doing their own thing you would rather go to pubs without children. All part of life's rich tapestry and the lure of alcohol. Personally I now hate pubs with children but then all of mine are in the 12 - 20 band and if we do go out for a drink and a meal we pick the middle range where our younger ones are allowed in but they (generally) act like adults and so it isn't a problem.
