Title: Weekend Betting
Post by: Dazzza on Friday, September 4, 2009, 17:32:13
Any thoughts yet for this weekend?

A few World Cup qualifiers going on but it's hard to spot some of the value looking at the fixtures alone.

Leeds Vs Stockpork looks like a decent bet and I quite fancy us to nick a tight result away at Yeovil.  Couple in League Two stand out but I think I'll keep it quite tight this weekend.

Leyton orient at 11/5 with VC could be a nice price considering southend have only got 4 fit defenders and one of them is a youngster according to shrimperzone this week, worth a punt i reckon.

My bets

Southend v Orient  (away win) 11/5  Tonight
Southampton v Colchester (home win) 5/4
Torquay v Bournemouth (away win) 6/4

First bet of the year football wise for me:
6 five folds and 1 six fold - not feeling that confident but here we go:

Brighton Ev
Huddersfield 2/1
Norwich 4/6
Aldershot Ev
Dag & red 2/1
Port Vale 11/10

Poland to beat N Ireland  4/7

Wimbledon to beat Tamworth  11/8

Port Vale to beat Grimsby  5/6

Swindon (draw no bet) at 10/11

I've got 5 different accumulators this weekend.

My weekly "safe" one...

CHARLTON vs brentford
LEEDS vs. stockport
ENGLAND vs. slovenia
CROATIA vs. belarus
SPAIN vs. belguim
georgia vs. ITALY

£7 returns £32

**********************

Highest return one is..

gills vs exeter
southampton vs. COLCHESTER
yeovil vs. SWINDON
ENGLAND vs. slovenia

£3.50 returns £104

**********************

Second highest return is..

southampton vs. COLCHESTER
yeovil vs. SWINDON
georgia vs. ITALY
germany vs. south africa ()

£2 returns £92

**********************

brighton vs. wycombe
bris rovers vs. millwall
LEEDS vs. stockport
SPAIN vs. belgium
georgia vs. ITALY

£2.50 returns £50

**********************

Then stuck the colchester and leeds picks with all the most obvious international picks (except those which were like 1/100 or whatever)

so LEEDS, COLCHESTER, SCOTLAND, ENGLAND, HOLLAND, ITALY, TURKEY, AUSTRIA, GERMANY and SPAIN all to win. Thought the returns would be a bit better than what they were tbh. £2.80 stake returns £78.

Just goes to show how one sided many of those internationals are likely to be I suppose.

Stayed away from the Internationals and opted for a couple of trebles:

Charlton Vs Brentford (Home)
Leeds Vs Stockpork (Home)
Yeovil Vs Town (Away)

£10  Not 100% confident on any these.  I suspect Charlton or Leeds may come unstuck against decent opposition but couldn't see much else that looked any safer.

Cheltenham Vs D&G (Away)
Port Vale Vs Grimsby (Home)
Notts County Vs Northampton (Home)

£10

Again not much value aside from D&G which are a bit of a wild punt given their away form this season to date.

Chuffed if either comes in to be honest.

I think that's a pretty good bet. I picked those but not in the same combo.

What return are you getting on that tenner if it comes off?

£60 (ish) on that one Spy.  I'm less sure about Charlton than Town coming in to be honest, which makes a change.  I can see Brentford giving them a good run for their money.

Its the early kick off at 12.15 so hopefully it doesn't come unstuck so early.

Terry 2-0, 60s
Lescott 1-0, 100s

I'm thoroughly expecting Lescott 3-0 or something equally annoying

Still £40 up for the weekend, which is a plus as there wasn't much about.

Look out for York's result at Barrow tomorrow, a lad i know who works in a bookies in town showed me an email they had received from the head office stating not to accept bets over £100 pound on York to win at Barrow due to suspicious betting activity, i promptly put £50 on York (can't remember price, around evens).
Apprently it could be a similar thing happening to them as what happend to Weymouth last season.
They have also been told to keep an eye on Montenegro vs Cyprus due to massive money going on Montengro to win at 10/11.
Those Eastern European Mafia are always up for a bit of match fixing although it would be hard in a World Cup Qualifier i would have thought so i didn't bet on that game.

Also i was told a similar thing when Grays beat FGR last season that FGR would be leading at half time and lose the game, i staked £2 because didn't believe it but it came in at 25/1.

Title: Re: Weekend Betting
Post by: Dazzza on Monday, September 7, 2009, 16:46:40
Cheers Penhill may have a sniff at that.  York look good value against Barrow regardless after the weekend's results so they're well worth a punt.

Had a look today again and York's price has got smaller, it has moved from 5/4 to 4/5 for an away win tonight. Also Montenegro tomorrow have been backed in from 10/11 to 4/6.

If your looking for abit of a longshot Howeller is coming back to form....generally about a 100/1...finished 7th last week and that being the first tournament for Ryder Cup points means hes Qualifying for next years Ryder...only another 30 tournaments to hold on!...E/W on him for the rest of the season should see you in profit IMO.

Hi Penhill....so has Barrows price gone out...sometimes these punts are aimed at making Barrows price bigger and they lump on late in the day.

Title: Re: Weekend Betting
Post by: penhill red on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 17:25:21
Didn't check to be honest, i don't think it is because apparently there has been over £100,000 staked on this game which is by far more than any other fixture this week, i think Barrow could be going through a Weymouth situation. Plus they got dicked at home 6-1 by Rushden & Diamonds at the weekend.

I understand what you mean though i read in an article the other day that it happens on managerial sackings, they back a manager right in to be sacked and when the price shortens stack 5 times as much on them to stay, happend with Benitez last season. I honestly think this is a sure thing hence why i backed it with my own money!

Title: Re: Weekend Betting

Cheers Penhill Red. I am getting on this and have backed York to be winning at half time and full time and stuck them in an accumulator with soem internationals for tomorrow. :D :D :D :D

Wish I had had more to put on this actually... but I forgot about the fact I'd suggested to my girlfriend we go to the cinema and see District 9 tomorrow. If my bet tonight doesn't come in I now can't afford to go. She is not happy about this!!

Stuck £25 on York tonight at evens.

Also a BSP accumulator:

Cambridge v Altrincham - Home Win
Kettering v Gateshead - Home Win
Oxford v Luton - Draw
Stevenage v Eastbourne - Home Win

£10 stake pays £150 - guarantee Oxford will fuck that up though!

To be honest i was only tempted into it this time because it is the same person who told me about the FGR v Grays game last year that i mentioned earlier in the thread and it's very similar circumstances regarding money being staked. I just hope it comes in otherwise i woul have lost a enough money for a right piss up and i will feel a complete dick for telling people, but i am confident it will win.

If you put more than £100 on York to win the price shortens to 4/6 apparently, i think you get the first £100 at evens though. Useless info really because it's more money than york's team cost to put together

Any thoughts for the weekend?

Liverpool despite a shakey start look a good shout at home against Burnley, Cheslski away at Stoke looks another good pick.

Not much else catches the eye aside from Blackburn looking decent(ish) at home against Wolves and the Arse away at Man City.

Championship wise Reading look decent bet to beat their voodoo at home and claim their first win in 11 games against Donny.  Fat Boy Howard making his debut for Reading.

That's as far as I've got...

WEST BROM v Plymouth

Yeah I've got all those in various combos. I've got about 7 accumulators on.

3 of them involve Leeds winning tonight. 2 of them include Swindon wins.

That sounds like it could be a little gem, i might do the same but put 50p on the whole back four to score first with a 1-1 draw they should all be roughly the same shouldn't they?

What was the dirty leeds score?

Anyone have any success last week?

Scuppered my two trebles with rushed picks and then managed to get 9 teams in a 10 team accumulator that would have landed silly amounts of beer tokens.  Gutted.

This week looks a bit more promising for picks across all the leagues.  So far off the bat without looking at team news for etc I have pulled out:

Arse and Villa

Newcastle, Preston, Reading Brizzle

Leeds, Charlton, Huddersfield, Franchise and possibly Town

Crewe, Port Vale, Notts County and Bournemouth

Few promising games in there.

Title: Re: Weekend Betting
Post by: dell boy on Friday, September 18, 2009, 17:57:11
I've laid bets again this weekend, not having a bet on matches,

I really fancy Norwich to get a result so have laid Charlton at 7/4 and Millwall are nothing like the side of last season so given them at 7/4 as well.

Lost a bit on Man City last week even though the larger bet was on Tottenham, hopefully will get it back with knobs on.

Three accumulators down.  Not as good picks as I thought this week after going through the team news and form.

Few cup matches next week may throw a spanner in what could be considered lower league bankers.

Poor odds knocking about so I've gone long(ish)..

Accumulator (7) (To win)  1 £1.00
Cardiff vs QPR Match betting  Cardiff  4/5
Wycombe vs Franchise Match betting Franchise  6/5
Leeds vs Gillingham Match betting Leeds  1/2
Millwall vs Huddersfield Match betting Huddersfield  6/4
Darlington vs Bournemouth Match betting Bournemouth  10/11
Burton vs Dagenham & Redbridge Match betting Dagenham & Redbridge  6/4
Port Vale vs Bury Match betting Port Vale  6/5

Accumulator (4) (To win)  1 £10.00
Peterborough vs Reading Match betting  Reading  2/1
Preston vs Coventry Match betting Preston  4/5
Norwich vs Charlton Match betting Charlton  8/5
Morecambe vs Notts County Match betting Notts County  4/5

  0000033 Accumulator (4) (To win)  1 £10.00
Arsenal vs Wigan Match betting  Arsenal  2/9
Newcastle vs Plymouth Match betting Newcastle  1/3

I didn't actually remember this til I read through this thread. I've been skeptical over whether me asking about the terms actually constitutes me definitely going for the bet. I appreciate it probably seemed that way tho and I don't want to be seen as a "shirker" so I will pay up.

In honesty I think at the time I was interested but didn't go to the extent of saying out and out "yes ok". This might be partly due to getting distracted by getting more fucked than I already was.  :soapy tit wank:

not had a bet on for some time but thought i'd chance my arm this weekend:

bolton - norwich
everton - wigan
reading - doncaster
southend - plymouth

accumulator for home wins is 5/1, slapped a fiver on it.  fingers crossed!

I reckon Everton/Wigan and Reading/Doncaster might both end in draws.
Might do a couple of quid on that :)

Unless you can get odds from the bookies on there being a massive punch up.
Although I guess the odds wouldn't be very good :)

Congrats Coca.

I made the silly, silly mistake to bet on Town and let heart rule head.  I had actually picked Wednesday over Town for the old away selection and changed it at the last minute.

I’ve had a couple of winners off Town this season but that’s it from here on in they’re barred from my picks.

I did the ladbrokes safety net bet thing which I don't usually as you get crapper returns if everything comes in. Lucky I did because Motherwell let me down but I still made over 30 quid

Had us, Bury and Bournemouth to win at 11/1. Only had a quid on unfortunately.

Also need a Willem II goal for another £20 in my goals galore accumulator, and on a separate bet a Chelsea and Valencia win tomorrow will net me £58, already had Man Utd and Everton come in.
