Title: Is this wise for DW to say?
Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, August 21, 2009, 12:18:20
"It was a fantastic result and sets us up well. It's now a test of character to possibly play against the teams maybe not as fancied as others such as Oldham."

Enough to fire Oldham up for Saturday?

I think it's a fair comment. They aren't called Leeds, Southampton or Norwich so the media aren't hyping them up. His point is more that we need to go to these less well publicised teams and expect just as tough a game, rather than saying they're a lesser side.

No one cares what we say at the moment.

They might start noticing in a weeks time.

As a club we don't get much publicity so i doubt very much that Oldham FC or their fans will
be aware of any comments. It was hardly an earth shattering or controversial comment.

Apart from Tranmere.

They are a bit hyper sensitive.

IF we were to beat Wolves, we'd get a good inch or so patronising us in the papers, and be forgotten about the next day. I guess it'd be an improvement though!

If we get beat today i can guarantee Tuesday night and consistant performances being key will be brought up in the post match interview, it is a case of stated the obvious. He just needs to make the lads talk with their feet and get the willing mentality that makes you want to be the best and win every game.

If players dont start the season thinking they can be promoted then what is the point? I saw what that looked like after a couple of months last season, and it wasnt pretty.

Fans need to drop this whole 'He said we'd be in the play offs' thing. It was only an excuse to bash useless Maurice around the head.

We were bottom half at Christmas in 2003 and we got in the play offs.

Face it, you do not have a chystal ball of football results.
