I think you'll have plenty of company, as long as you can get people to agree a train time

Not sure, haven't booked the tickets yet. Isn't it supposed to just be one change at Reading? Had a look on FGW site and it's coming up Swindon > Reading > Virginia Water > Brentford. Is that right?

Brentford's always been pretty friendly from my experience, but I must admit I've never arrived on the train or in a big group. I'll be going on the tube so I'll probably meet you all at Paddington or something

It's currently £25.50 for 1 person (that's with 2 singles as cheaper than £30 return) or you can get a group saver with 4 people for £15 each although that might have changed now it's less than a month before the game.

Been several times over the years and it remains a favourite trip. I think it may be a particularly good following this season from reaction of friends (some regulars some once in a blue moon) that want to go, maybe filling and needing an overspill to our allocation as has happened in the past. Decent results up to this will make that more likely. May need to get tickets before the day ?

Yep, they've been on sale for about a week now!

I'm hoping to bring a couple of friends from uni to this one. One is a "Liverpool fan" (from Liverpool, so fair enough!). She actually once asked me if Swindon players (or League One players in general) are professionals. I was not impressed.

New Inn is the favoured pub for away supporters. (According to the football ground guide).  Seeing as its right on the corner, that will probably be the one we will go to since we have a Brentford fan in tow.

Thing is, those pubs are always rammed.  If you're looking to spend a good few hours catching up with your mates before the game, probably not the best place to head.  The 5 to 10 mins on the bus from Chiswick last time we played them was well worth it.

We drove before and it was pretty easy. We parked in a local health centre and walked from there. The train is looking a bit pricey now.

On another note, I'm a bit disappointed to see we've only sold 500 so far. Hopefully people have been preoccupied with other games and plenty will buy on the day!

Just out of interest, though, why would you want to pay before the day when you're pretty much guaranteed that you can pay at the gate?  Saves you the hassle of worrying about delivery, carrying ticket around with you etc.  I'm fairly sure there will be 1,000+ of us there.

I buy early for two reasons. Firstly because I'm a student and can only get discounts in advance, and secondly because it usually saves a quid or two, which adds up over the course of a season.

Title: Re: Brentford away

Where To Drink?
Brentford is famous for being the only ground in England that has a pub at every corner of the ground. The surrounding land was formerly owned by the Griffin Brewery, hence Griffin Park. If you are feeling thirsty, get there early and have a pint in all four. They are the Royal Oak (a small locals pub), The Griffin (serves Fullers real ale), The Princess Royal & The New Inn. The New Inn is the favoured pub for away supporters. Derek Hall a visiting Hartlepool United fan adds; 'Probably the best pub out of the four is the Griffin, with the New Inn a fairly close second. On my visit the New Inn became so packed that we left in search of another pub and found the Potters Arms, which is a nice quiet little place for a beer, plus it has a large screen showing SKY Sports. This pub was just a couple of minutes walk away across the road from the New Inn'.

Jim Prentice informs me; 'besides the corner pubs, another favourite is the Waggon and Horses. This pub is in easy reach of the ground, especially by alighting at Kew Bridge station, just before Brentford on the Waterloo - Reading line'. Whilst Roger Stamp adds; 'Probably the best real ale pub in Brentford is the 'Magpie & Crown' which is only five minutes walk away from the ground, on Brentford High Street. The pub has four real ales on tap and welcomes both home and away supporters'.
