Title: pitch & putt
Post by: sonicyouth on Sunday, May 29, 2005, 22:59:23
Anyone know any golf courses around swindon/oxford where I can go and play pitch & putt? I've got a friend staying who loves golf but I'm too crap to play a proper round and driving range gets boring after a while. We went to Carswell today and got told we weren't allowed to use the practice area, cunts!

That sounds awesome, do they have clubs to rent? Or is it a take your own things? Dress code?

Yeh you get a club (eg a 9 iron) and a putter for a 2 quid deposit that you'll get back if you don't break the clubs!

Take your own balls. Tees, scorecards and pencils are provided. Take your own clubs if you want, they don't care.

Dress code, not at all, dead casusal. Jeans, tee shirts, trainers, hoodies, sandals, whatever  8)

There's also pitch and putt at Moredon considered more challenging than Coate and at Highworth....which is an interesting location if you like greensand scenery.

I'll go for some Ian Poulter-stylie attire, perhaps some pink plus 4's and a knitted jumper with a burberry cap?

The BBC are currently running a comp....design a pair of trousers for Poulter to wear on the opening day of  The Open.

 Men's trousers might interest DMR

This is the link for the design Poulters trousers thingy. He has to be my 2nd favourite sportsperson, behind David Duke, obviously

We played pitch and putt in Newquay and it was ace. I was pretty shit at pitching but awesome at putting (all that work done on the Weymouth putting green next to the beech when I was younger  8)). I think I finished 3rd out of 12, which isn't bad considering about 5 of the lads actually play proper rounds of golf.

So so, have been playin' p&p for the last couple of months, when i can (bout 3 times a week).

Bloody love it

Had a round on a proper course in Eastbourne last year tho, and i was utterly shockin'. I'm gonna stick to the short game
