Title: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 10:53:16 Orange are changing their charges for non-inclusive minutes in September. As this is a change to any existing contract, you have the right to cancel without penalty.
Some people on another forum I post on have done this succesfully and also kept their handset. Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 10:59:22 sweet if this is possible to do.
means i'll cancel and order me a PS3 through Carphone warehouse (or somewhere similar) Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: BrightonRed on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 11:15:34 I was on the phone to Orange within minutes of receiving the text. You can be disconnected with a PAC code in the post within 24 hours of calling them. Pretty sweet as I got a 32" Sony Bravia with my deal. Checked with the retailer and as I've had my contract running for over 120 days there's no comeback for disconnection.
I don't know what it would cost to implement but surely it would make more sense to roll out a price change as people approach the end of their contracts.. I've still got 14 months left to run on mine. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 11:19:06 i've got another 12 months i believe. i have received a text from Orange last month but never take any notice of it.
which is the best phonce sites for deals? Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: herthab on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 11:58:03 Result! The coverage for orange here is shite. Just called them and they're sending me the PAC number in the post. Happy days!!!!

Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 12:05:09 which is the best phonce sites for deals? I used mobiles.co.uk. If you go for a deal with a free gift they actually send it out with the phone rather than make you wait 60 to 120 days like other sites do. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 12:08:27 excellent Sam cheers. The mrs is going to cancel hers too so she can get something free. plus she hates her phone.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: BrightonRed on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 14:21:08 I used mobiles.co.uk. If you go for a deal with a free gift they actually send it out with the phone rather than make you wait 60 to 120 days like other sites do. I've just ordered the iPhone 3gs through mobiles.co.uk (only because they're offering £60 cashback through quidco).. To be honest the 16gb black iPhone 3gs is a bastard to get hold of at the moment but I ordered mine at about 7pm last night, and I've just received the Royal Mail track and trace code for my delivery tomorrow. Can't complain. Just hope to god I have no reason to contact them by phone as the waiting times are horrendous. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 14:40:03 i've currently chosen a PS3 + New Nokia 5800.

Post by: pumbaa on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:05:29 Got a text yesterday but didn't realise you could do this. Was due an upgrade, but those Orange cunts want me to pay for a phone. Well that ain't gonna happen you daft pricks. Looks like I may be checking out mobiles.co.uk later.....
Thanks Sam. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: genf_stfc on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:29:46 i had one of those texts a while back, but i saw it was from orange and just deleted it. mind you i've been on the same contract for years, so i could probably leave it any time i wanted...its still an "everyday 50" account. Sort of begs the question why i don't just get a new one and something free really...
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Miss Angry on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:32:15 Hmmm... Am i reading it wrong in that cos my contract is an old one this cancel lark doesnt apply to me? You can only cancel if you started your contract from may09 or something can someone explain if i am wrong pleeease x
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: swindon_chick on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:36:01 Rang up about 3 times over the last 5 or so days to cancel and was told I needed a text with the charges(Which I deleted). Rang up this earlier to get told a previous request had gone through and that my contract is terminated as from tonight/tomorrow!
Any ideas on which networks offer good coverage as I don't get a great signal with Orange? And what is the Iphone like? Is it worth the extra money for the handset? Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:36:23 I started mine in April. So don't know if I could do it or not? Also I actually like Orange. They've never given me any shit. Only reason i'd do it is to get a better phone and maybe a free gift or some cash back.

Post by: pumbaa on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:48:46 I just 'upgraded' one of my contracts in June (phone broke and we were due an upgrade anyway), no text received as yet to that number, but I got one earlier today on my phone as I've yet to upgrade.
Are there any decent sub 30 quid a month tariffs out there with inclusive internet access? Obviously not on Orange...... Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 18:51:35 Looks like Vodaphone is your best bet for that Pumbaa.

Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 22:12:25 Pretty good if you want a new phone/snazzy gift or hate Orange. Might be worth considering further aspects e.g. cheaper/free broadband no longer available in the longer term though (if applicable).
I wonder how many customers orange will lose. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: jimbob on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 08:02:56 for the handful that I expect that are on the 'three' network, they too have changed their T&C so there is also a way out from them

Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 17:37:34 I just phoned Orange to complain. I told them that I could get a better phone on a similar contract to my current one on another network. They informed me that they cannot offer me a reduction in my tariff cost on my current phone even though I barely use my allowance. So i asked them if they could offer me an upgrade on handset to match what I could have elsewhere and again the answer was no. I told them that I would have to seriously consider cancelling my contract and going to another network unless they offered my an incentive to stay. They basically admitted that I a can cancel my contract if I wish to. Going to consider actually cancelling it now.

Any ideas on which networks offer good coverage as I don't get a great signal with Orange? And what is the Iphone like? Is it worth the extra money for the handset? I find O2 is pretty good coverage wise and customer service wise, they have always been excellent and the call centre isnt in india which is a good start. I love my iphone and think its worth paying extra, some great features too which cost nothing. I like the fact you can just plug it into i tunes and away you go updates and all. I only got it as wanted an i pod but was due an upgrade so wanted to kill 2 birds with one stone really! Camera isnt good but I have a digital for that so not really fussed! :D Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: walrus on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 18:31:20 Nice one legend!! My girlfriend just lost her phone on Orange, so cancelled her old contract, into Orange next week to take out a new contract! Silly buggers they must be losing thousands... rang up and got disconnected no problem bloke couldn't believe what was going on!
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: walrus on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 18:32:21 PS her contract was only a couple of months old so shouldn't be a problem for anyone... before they cancelled they offered her £5 off a month before hand...
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 18:43:51 They wouldn't even offer me £5 off a month. Cheeky bastards.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 18:45:17 O2 lied when they cocked up my contract. To this day they still blame me for the fact they failed to give me unlimited internet to start with, even though it's there in black and white on the contract I signed.
It's a bitch to get any money back from them when they do cock up, but I expect the same is true of most companies. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, August 6, 2009, 20:29:43 Fuck 'em. I'm going to cancel my contract and get an N97 on Vodafone.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: BrightonRed on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 12:05:38 I'm assuming that it's a panic reaction to losing thousands of brand new contract customers but Orange are now trying to claim that you can only cancel your contract if the price increase is to your detriment (i.e. if you never exceed your monthly minutes allowance and never make calls to '08' numbers you're not eligible to cancel).
Firstly, I don't agree with the logic as it is impossible to ascertain likely levels of usage in the future and secondly I just pointed out to the customer services guy that I made a single 0845 call 3 months ago and he backed down straight away. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 12:45:00 It's in black and white in the terms and conditions. If they don't let you cancel then it's breach of contract.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Batch on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 12:53:52 It clearly is to your detriment, how could they know what your future use will be.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 13:15:08 They've been trying it from day one if you read around on the net. Depends who you get on the phone. I think they may have tried that trick with my brother a bit too, he was feigning getting angry, it was quite to my amusement.
Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: michael on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 14:18:29 Well funnily enough I recently phoned up to cancel my Orange contract once it had run its course, but was talked out of it by a kind woman offering to effectively knock 66% off my monthly bill as well as throw in loads of extras too.
Very pleased. Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: magicroundabout on Thursday, August 27, 2009, 15:22:32 anyone still searching for a new phone i would recomend these guys
http://www.mobiles.co.uk/refer.aspx?refer=cust871395 reason being is i've now received two Nokia 5800's and two PS3's. none of which need to be returned. reason being is that there are two people (myself being one) on my street with the same name just different address. first order got sent through to him so O2 cancelled but i still had the phone etc and so second fresh order went through correctly and received a second 5800 and PS3. happy days Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 11:34:57 Can someone help me? Im such a pleb when It comes to mobile - Ive always been with Vodaphone and I just upgrade with them every year without asking any questions but I want the new LG crystal phone and Vodaphone told me they are not released yet and "nowhere will have them till Oct"
But Ive just looked on Carphone warehouse and they have it in stock and on a better Vodaphone tariff than Im currently on??? I dont understand why Carphone Warehouse can do a better Vodaphone deal than Vodaphone?? Does that make sense? Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 12:54:33 Quite common for retailers to offer better deals than the provider themselves JFW. Also common to see better deals if you start a new contract rather than upgrade. It's all about the kick back Voda give for new contracts and how much of that is passed on to the user.
Also CPW do tend to provide unbranded/unlocked phones on occasion. Maybe they have some of these they are allowed to sell on to the Voda network, where as Voda are only going to sell Voda branded/customised stuff - which may not be available to them until October.. Best to ring CPW to check it is in stock and available on Voda You have four choices as far as I can see (assuming you are out of contract): 1. Ring Voda back, tell them about the CPW deal and see if they will match. If not ask to speak to cancellations and obtain your PAC. Then chicken out and say you'll consider things if they don't do a deal. Mind you if they say they don't have the phone then I'm not sure they can match. 2. Cancel your Voda contract and take out a new one. You will lose your current phone number though. Also be doubly sure the tariff is acceptable as it may not be the same as your current one. 3. Move to another provider. Don't forget to check coverage and the tariff. 4. wait a month you impatient fashion whore! Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 14:51:10 loving 4!! hahahahaha!
so could I go with CPWH and keep my number? P.S The real reason I want that LG phone is that I currently have an LG phone and it was so bloody difficult to learn to use I dont wanna start all over again Current LG phone now has no back as it was lost at V!!! Title: Re: Anyone got an Orange contract and want out? Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, September 3, 2009, 19:48:09 If you're due an upgrade you can do it in Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U etc.
