Title: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: herthab on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 09:21:07 Be interesting to see how Luggy is greeted back, particularly after the massive snub he gave us last year.
Be a really good test of the strength of our defence, against a very direct side. Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Spy on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 09:51:11 He shouldn't have sent out a youth team and it would have been nice if he'd been there but to be fair wasn't that pretty soon after it all came out about his health problems?
Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Rustle on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 10:04:43 He deserves a decent reception, after all he did get us out of the horrid basement division,as for fielding a youth side last time, who can really blame him when the start of the season was a week or so away.
I hope he gets a good reception. Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 10:05:39 Apparently Luggy has promised to send a full strength team as a "kiss and make up" jesture to Swindon.
I think we could do well, but I also think we could do shit, either way I cant get there. Would have loved to have gone but funds not allowing me, hope we play well with some style against a good team. I am going for a 0-0 draw with 4,234 fans there. Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Spy on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 10:11:33 I think attendance will be lower than that.

Only Amankwha and Marshall combined were less effective than Heywood was! Sometimes firendlies are fun to watch and give you false hope for the future. Sometimes they are shitty dull reality checks. Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Crozzer on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 18:10:17 Last season Malice Maurpas, missed targets and bought what was available. We had a large squad of players of not quite good enough quality, barring some exceptions.
This season, a team is being crafted from back to front, but so far signing strikers has obviously been a problem. So we lose a friendly to a Championship side while playing with only one recognized striker. I don't think that D.W. would have been showing the world his plans for a make-shift striker the week before season opening. I expect McGovern will play up front against Gillingham with Paynter. Gillingham are not Plymouth Argyle. D.W. will get a loan player or two when players are available, and will sign a permanent striker to compliment Paynter. Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: reeves4england on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 18:14:16 We were shocking today, half the players didn't look interested. You'd have thought players like JPM and Easton would have gone out there to prove a point but we created very little going forward until Wilson brought on Macca and O'Brien. I'm not worried about the result - we lost out to two fortuitous goals against a team from a higher division - but I would have liked to have seen a bit more cutting edge and some kind of effort to get the ball to the front pair on the deck.
Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Bennett on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 18:16:33 plymouths defenders could take a touch and zip it up to their strikers feet bypassing our midfield. it was all very nice to watch and i hope the town lads learn from it
Title: Re: Swindon V Pasty Munchers Official Matchday Friendly Thread! Post by: Batch on Saturday, August 1, 2009, 18:18:40 Everyone sees it differently. I thought JPM looked our most creative option today. O'Brien got into some good positions, granted. Macca was garbage.
