Cheers Andy!

I put the trampoline up this morning while Joy took Sophie in to town to get some birthday bits.

I can't describe the look on her face when she came in and noticed it in the garden. A real picture. She is so chuffed with it. Nice one mate.

That's cheating - what you're supposed to do is assemble it the night before when the kids have gone to bed, only realising after you've started that the bulb in the outside security light must have blown at some point in the past week so you have to do the whole damn thing in pitch black except for one of those "Free with 10 ltrs of petrol" torches you get at the garage which has dodgy contacts so it only works if you tilt it at exactly the right angle so you can't even shine it directly on the area you're working on. Only then do you get the full effect of getting 2/3 of the way around before realising you've been putting the springs on wrong and that you've now completely wrenched your shoulder out of its socket and it's quarter to one in the bloody morning and you just want to collapse where you are on the grass and drink till the kids wake up in the morning and find you passed out over a half-assembled trampoline with a spring end embedded in your thumb joint.

On reflection, your way may be best.

I made up the thing about being found sprawled all over it - I just felt like doing that. I actually finished the bastard thing at about 2.30 am, then crawled into a bottle of Scotch (purely medicinal for the pierced thumb/dislocated shoulder) before collapsing into bed semi-pissed. Which masked how much I hurt till next morning when the kids' delight at the trampoline almost made it worthwhile, along with  the loss of the use of my shoulder/hand for much of the next week. Mind, they still play on it pretty much every day (I even had to clear snow off the bloody thing so they could bounce on it muffled up to the eyeballs in thick coats, hats etc) so it's actually been one of the better value things we've bought them. And the neighbours love the way the extra height from the bouncing makes it sooo much easier for them to hoof balls over the fence

It was easy after the Fred Elliot course in Dismantling a Trampoline in the Belting Rain.

As I said, I wasn't keen at all on getting one but most of our nieces and nephews were around today because of Sophie's birthday and the thing has been punished non-stop.

As PD says, I reckon it is actually good value entertainment and it will stay up over the long summer school holidays. We will be inundated with small people for the next two months. Which is good in a way because my brothers and sisters in law are prone to turning up with serious quantities of beer and wine on these occasions.

Ace.

PS Paul you should have had some lessons from Andy. He only charges a case of 3Bs and you should see his tool.

I'm equipping Sophie with a pair of scissors to cut the grass under the thing.

Harsh Daddy or what?

I'm buying special solar reflectors with grass friendly wavelength coatings.

There is no way that trampoline is getting the better of me.

Actually Fred, Arriba is right. The grass under the trampoline in your garden when we took it down was infested with wildebeest, panthers and I'm sure I stepped on a rain forest or two.
