Title: The Office (American Version) Post by: Chubbs on Monday, June 22, 2009, 12:56:07 Any one been watching this? I put it off as i wasn't a massive fan of the english version, but a mate of mine made me watch it and i cannot set enough, Just started watching season 3 last night (out of 5) and it really is a piece of televisionary genius. I reccomend everyone checks it out.
The carachers and acting is spot on. Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: Arriba on Monday, June 22, 2009, 12:58:05 i haven't seen it.the orignal bbc version is superb imo.
Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: herthab on Monday, June 22, 2009, 13:11:07 I saw a bit of the first series and, to me, it just didn't match up to the original.
That said, the newer series are completely seperate from the Gervais/Merchant scripted 1st and 2nd series so wouldn't have a direct comparison to critique against. Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: Spy on Monday, June 22, 2009, 13:21:04 I have the first series on dvd. I want to buy the second series soon (a tenner off play for 22 episodes - bargain!!).
From what I have seen on TV it actually gets better in the later series (3 and 4). You can get seasons 1-3 for £18 from play, cheaper than buying 2 and 3 separately. I watched some of the American episodes from the first season when they were showed on BBC2 (I think). Thought they were crap, mainly as a result of them using the scripts from the original which seldom works. Been watching some of the more recent episodes on the Comedy Channel and it looks a lot better now its got going properly. Yeah thats a good call actually. Then I can sell or part exchange for series 1 dvd. Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, June 22, 2009, 18:12:48 I'm a long standing obsessed U.S. Office fan. That's all.
Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: jonny72 on Monday, June 22, 2009, 18:43:48 It's on Comedy Central if you have Sky. Or Virgin. Looks like they are showing the complete season 2 on Comedy Central Extra on Saturday, 24 episodes starting from 9am to 9pm. Title: Re: The Office (American Version) Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, June 22, 2009, 19:12:14 The 5th season was also very good. I like how it doesn't adhere to many of the "normal" storyline rules that many generic U.S. comedies use. I won't go into huge detail because many haven't seen it yet.
