Title: Top Gear reminder
Post by: Samdy Gray on Sunday, June 21, 2009, 14:11:21
New series tonight at 8pm on BBC2.

Apparently, the identity of The Stig is to be revealed...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8111588.stm

I'll bet it's a huge joke and it'll be someone like Carol Vorderman wearing a racing suit & helmet.

Thanks for the reminder Sam, I had not noticed there was a new series in the offing.

I recon that the Stig is that German woman driver that beat Jez round the Nurburgring, but I also agree with you when it will be revealed as a joke.

Can't wait :)

Great. Another 10 weeks of testosterone fuelled mid 40 something jokers ranting the nuts off some metallic exotica that 99.9% can never afford to look at, let alone drive.

Bring it on!

Love Top Gear.  Sooner or later, they will need to make some changes again to keep it fresh, but for now the Three Amigos are doing just fine.

Great to see it back. It's really the only thing I watch on TV other than sport.

Enjoyable edition tonight, although the stuff with The Stig was a bit too gimmicky for my liking.  Good nonetheless though.

Never mind the Stig stuff, I hope you enjoyed the last episode of Top Gear after the Catholic Church comment!

Come on. Its not him is it. Was good though, would have liked to see him do a proper lap in the reasonably priced car.

Yes that last lap was quite funny.

On that vague subject, one thing I have always wondered is that in F1 when a car stalls on the grid, why doesn't it kangaroo down the road for a bit first?

Don't they have anti-stall systems?  Essentially the clutch automatically cuts in if the car is going to stall, so technically they don't stall at all.  Might be wrong.

I thought anti-stall just switched it to neutral.

Don't think they kangaroo because there isn't a clutch pedal to hold it around bite, F1 cars are semi-automatic and change gear in a rediculously quick time.

That ferrari was schumachers, it was the last ffx built and was a retirement gift to him.

Hence the insanely quick lap, as it was more than likely Schumi driving it dressed as the stig...

I thought all this stig bollocks was ended years ago? When Hammond had that crash the name of the stig was in the investigation document that was released? It was some ex touring car driver or something...no-one particulalry famous.

Glad someone said it Batch. The Stig being revealed as Schumi, was one of convenience. The FXX's are Ferrari's pride and joy and the chances of Ferrari letting one out of their sight is zero. Schumacher is still a Ferrari employee and he owns/drives the only non-red (black) FXX, which was his retirement gift.

When they got the FXX round the track it was Schumi driving and they had to dress him as the Stig because the Stig does all their power laps. I think it was then that the idea leapt upon them as The Stig being Schumacher.

Can't believe they didn't get him to do a lap in the Lacetti or even give him a proper interview. I was not happy. I mean, get one of the greatest drives of all time in the studio and don't get a lap time off him or a proper interview. Cunts.
