Title: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:23:33 Just updated mine to the 3.0 version and I'm pretty impressed! The picture messaging is pretty good and simple and being able to forward texts is ace!
Anyone done this also and can recommend any good new features? Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:35:00 Just doing it now as only been released today
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:35:58 Also updating now.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:43:52 I'm guessing the iTunes update server is getting cained because downloading this update is painfully slow.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:44:20 It took about 15 mins for me
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:47:02 Just to download? Or is that including the install as well?
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 18:48:17 Just to download but the install took about 5 mins
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 19:17:15 The activation server is down now. What kind of no-mark company doesn't have servers to match demand.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 19:22:07 also version 3.0 until forwarding texts?
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: thedarkprince on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 19:39:46 This is why I'm glad I don't have anything Apple, they never release a product which is good from day one. Its only version 2.0 / 3.0 where they finally get it right! But don't worry, its got a shiny apple logo on it so plenty of people will buy it regardless.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:21:47 Be aware if you have a pin number remove it first otherwise the update won't work
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:23:17 It does work, just unlock the sim with the PIN and it carries on as normal.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:26:49 The improvements to photos look good.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:30:08 I seem to be the only one at the moment who can send them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:( Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:35:22 Do you notice any improvements to the quality of photos Luci?
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:36:49 well I never sent them before but quality wise I think theyre pretty good. I sense sarcasm mr Pie
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:38:08 If you've got Mobile Me the "find my iPhone" for when you lose your phone is good. It will track it down pretty accurately, send a message to it, sound an alert on it (useful when its on silent and its nearby) and will also perform a remote wipe of all data on it.
Otherwise; copy & paste, landscape everywhere, spotlight search (scroll left from main app page) and autofill. I know some people are getting excited about MMS and forwarding SMS but it doesn't do much for me. Trying to decide if I need to get the 3GS when I'm allowed to upgrade in a few months. On the one hand I'm not sure I need the features but on the other hand it would be rude not to. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:39:16 Nah, just photos you take. I didn't think it did picture messages until now?

I didn't think it did picture messages until now? I've seen some comparisons between pictures taken with the 3G and 3GS and they are a lot better on the 3GS. As far as I'm aware the 3.0 upgrade doesn't do anything for picture quality on the 3G, ie it is still shit, really shit. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:43:20 Could try phoning it? :D Yes, unless its on silent in which case you'd be screwed before now. The sound alert works no matter what. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:48:11 Yes, unless its on silent in which case you'd be screwed before now. The sound alert works no matter what. It's actually a good idea, shame it costs money to subscribe though. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 20:51:41 It's actually a good idea, shame it costs money to subscribe though. Unless you were a subscriber a year ago when they totally fucked everything up by launching Mobile Me alongside the iPhone 3G and it all went pete tong - I think I ended up with the best part of a years subscription for free. They do need to reduce the price a fair bit though, or include it with the iPhone for free. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Luci on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 21:01:17 I got MobileMe free! Link through martins money some Time ago
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 21:07:41 As i never bothered upgrading to iTunes 8.2, i need to do this first. The cunts.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: Samdy Gray on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 22:13:09 I had to do that too.
All updated now. Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 22:19:36 If you've got a Mac, you need to upgrade to 10.5.7 for some of the new features as well.
Title: Re: iPhone Software Upgrade Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, 22:30:11 Sending voice memo's doesnt work... neither does picture messaging, and copy/paste of text from websites is shit. Can't say i'm too impressed!
