Title: TEF Challenge Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:06:52 So I need to get from Swindon Station to Blunsdon House Hotel in less than 30 minutes. Is a bus a viable option, or am I limited to a taxi? How much for each?
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:09:54 The bus from Swindon to Blunsdon only runs hourly so you're out of luck there.
A taxi with either V-Cars or United shouldn't cost you much more than £8 I would've thought. Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:10:57 Balck cab will be about £15. So I'd book one before and like sam says shouldn't be more than a tenner.
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: ronnie21 on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:11:36 Walk, you will feel better for it! Seriously, I think Samdy is right, a taxi is the only real answer. Probably be nearer a tenner though!
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:17:32 Cost isn't an issue, travelling on business so I'll be claiming it back on <cough> expenses......
Interestingly, the directions to Blunsdon House don't mention rail, but do provide coordinates for their helipad...... Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:29:01 Take the 'copter 8)
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: LucienSanchez on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 07:41:46 I'd recommend SN1 taxis... 523523. They are a lot cheaper than V Cars and their drivers are usually friendly chaps.
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 09:32:45 why would you need to book a taxi from swindon station? Theres millions of them there already
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: nevillew on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 10:32:20 why would you need to book a taxi from swindon station? Theres millions of them there already prebooked minicab cheaper than 'black cab' Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 11:31:06 V cars booking office is above the station, you can wander in and get a cab pretty much straight away
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 11:45:58 why is this a challenge? fuck me its hardly the krypton factor.
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 15:55:51 why is this a challenge? fuck me its hardly the krypton factor. Yeah I thought it was going to something like Treasure Hunt, or that book thing which had a buried bit of jewelery, which name escapes me, whereby a piece of tasty STFC memorabilia was hidden away, and clues offered to find it...a bit like Granny's Garden. Have to say, should I get a taxi on expenses or a bus is a bit of a no brainer. However if the walking option is taken I can provide a decent route with a minimum of busy road walking...which takes in some interesting hidden corners of Swindon. It's a challenge for a lazy git who can't be bothered to use google :) Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 20:13:34 I couldn't think of a better thread title. It was early. Must try harder next time.......

Yeah...I think you should have had a golden boot forged in the furnaces of Mordor, that fitted the foot of Simon Cox. Buried it in a jewelled casket decorated with filigree TEF logos, the location of which was only known to you and a witness of unimpeachable honesty like Yeovil Blue. And then devised a series of computer based riddles...using 80's BBC style graphics, so that we could be challenged to discover the whereabouts of the auric shoe. Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 20:28:08 Are you daring to suggest that Yeovil is a man of integrity? Clearly bollocks.
Title: Re: TEF Challenge Post by: 4D on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, 20:39:36 So I need to get from Swindon Station to Blunsdon House Hotel in less than 30 minutes. Is a bus a viable option, or am I limited to a taxi? How much for each? Three more options... 1. Drive 2. Get an earlier train 3. Stay at a hotel near the town centre |
