Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: BANGKOK RED on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 17:08:14 With it being his team, it is entirely up to him who he has as "sponsors" right?
Will he make the car red and white? Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: leefer on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 17:10:50 I hope Samdy dosnt ask for kit sponsors!

Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: Batch on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 17:56:11 I had no idea that Fitton owned March.
Any chance of some free tickets Mr F ;) Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: manc red on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 19:00:28 Id be suprised if they were accepted considering their competition for the spare grid slots. Good luck to him though
Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 19:27:13 One of the competitors is called Team US F1, how unoriginal can you possibly get?!
Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: nochee on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 19:54:52 They say the team would have to start their operation from scratch should they be granted entry.
I wonder where they would have their factory? It would be good if Fitton used local companies such as Retrac Composites/Productions for some of its engineering work. More work for the town can only be a good thing at the mo. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 19:59:41 Looks like there are one or two of the new applicants that are guaranteed a place, I can't see them turning down Prodrive (ie Aston Martin) and Lola are probably a good bet. Other than that it looks pretty wide open for the 3rd new place available. But you never know with F1, they could easily select totally random teams or increase the number of places.
Wonder where Fitton would be getting the money from. I'm sure the new teams will get a good chunk of money back from advertising and prize money but I'd have thought you still need a fair wedge of cash to get involved. No doubt he's got a plan, doesn't seem like the kind of person to piss his money away. I reckon it would be good news for the club, it sure as hell won't do it any damage. No doubt he's got a plan, doesn't seem like the kind of person to piss his money away. He'l probably get some form of sponsorship money prior to the season, with the rest of the sponsorship/advertising money coming throughout the F1 season. With the sponsors and deals he has done so far at STFC theres a high probability he'l do some top notch business and get a company like apple to advertise. Afterall, there is alot of dosh floating around F1 thesedays. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 20:24:53 He owns it but how much involvement will he really have?
Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 20:59:57 They say the team would have to start their operation from scratch should they be granted entry. Most motorsport work in the UK tends to be in the Northamptonshire area. I'd expect them to locate there.I wonder where they would have their factory? It would be good if Fitton used local companies such as Retrac Composites/Productions for some of its engineering work. More work for the town can only be a good thing at the mo. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 21:41:33 Toyota? Its a slippery slope. Teams will be named after the bloke that owns them next. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: michael on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 21:42:29 Actually sponsorship money isn't all that easy to come by at the moment, which is why Brawn GP are still called Brawn GP and have hardly any mainline sponsors on their car or overalls.
That's what my mate told me anyway :) Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 21:43:43 Actually sponsorship money isn't all that easy to come by at the moment, which is why Brawn GP are still called Brawn GP and have hardly any mainline sponsors on their car or overalls They had Terminator Salvation the other day, massive great big Terminator robot in the pit lane and all :D Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 21:46:55 Actually sponsorship money isn't all that easy to come by at the moment, which is why Brawn GP are still called Brawn GP and have hardly any mainline sponsors on their car or overalls. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: Phil_S on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 09:50:15 That could open up all types of opportunities for STFC.
Next years Serason ticket incentive "Buy your season ticket & get to borrow an F1 car for the day" Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 21:28:08 Nice article here, which sums up their chances on paper of being accepted.
http://www.motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=330813 Doesn't look a go'er. Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: santasdead on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 21:45:35 That article does suggest it's a bit of a no-hoper. But why would anybody apply to F1 without having an idea,or actually having garages to work in etc etc.
Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: jonny72 on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 22:15:08 As they prove on a monthly basis, the world of F1 is a very strange one and no one knows what will happen next. Plus most of that article is based to a degree on guess work, they haven't seen the actual applications so no one knows for sure exactly who is involved with what and it could all change with deals done behind the scenes.
Title: Re: March Returning to F1 Post by: suttonred on Friday, June 12, 2009, 10:12:08 Didn't get accepted by the look of it.

Meanwhile the row rumbles on, with the FOTA teams given an extra week to sort out their row with the FIA/FOM. Except Ferrari, RBR and Torro Rosso, who the FIA say are contractually obliged to race, and they say they aren't, |
