Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 12:46:06 My advice would be to try and have something different than what all the various other sites have - at the moment it looks a wincy bit similar to one of the other sites - but I do understand its very early days
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: spacey on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 12:46:33 You can borrow this picture if you like. It's based on the film zombie flesh eaters, but instead of eating flesh the zombies bum sheep.

Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 12:54:48 Fans sites used to be all the rage back-in-the-day.
I think the 'blog' is a better internet trend. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:04:08 Good luck to you. I hope it works out. The site does look a bit 1998, to tell the truth, but it's early days...and fanzine's were never meant to be glossy affairs anyway (unless you're talking about the Man U variant, costing £4.50 from all good newsagents).
Bring The Noise was a little before my time, but the 69er was always a good read. And then, of course, there was the Randy Robin (run by an adolescent PetsWinPrizes). Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Power to people on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:12:02 Good luck to you. I hope it works out. And then The Magic Roundabout for a short period - probably best remembered for it's picture's of McMahon & Hunt together Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: suttonred on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:17:37 Good luck to you. Never realised Pets ran that, might dig one out of the loft for the next Market Porter visit. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Ardiles on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:19:54 ...of which there will be at least 2 next season (Millwall and Charlton).
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:28:42 sorry mate, but its looks very ameturish, kinda like school project like.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:46:12 I remember BTN fanzine. It included the excellent McBag cartoon.
Those were the days. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:49:57 Obviously it will be better once you get some content on there. I think the match report section is a good idea, could make for some amusing stories.
Other than that you may want to think about adding some other sections a blog as mentioned by RP may be a simple addition. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: hansgruber on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 13:54:01 Don't give up your day job

Got it as my desktop now Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Spy on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:20:24 I think some of you guys are being a bit harsh. Yeah the site design is a bit basic but for all we know he might be 12 years old or something.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: spacey on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:25:43 I'm sure if he's not 12, your comments will have cheered him up no end.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Spy on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:32:00 Well I'm sure he's not a web design professional.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:40:08 I'm sure if he was a web design professional your comments would have cheered him up no end.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:42:58 So what if he is 12? Age is no excuse for mediocrity. Must try harder.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:46:06 John seems to have a habit of berating other people's websites.

Plus if he didn't give up the day job it would be quite ironic. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Simon Pieman on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:47:24 Or it could be a girl of course. I wouldn't want to appear sexist.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:48:31 Its pretty simple putting together a professional looking website nowadays, for pretty much nothing and without much in the way of technical skills. Loads of content management systems, such as Joomla, which do all the hard work for you. All you have to do is click a few buttons then add all the content.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Dazzza on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 15:52:50 12 year old girl?
Stop projecting your fanasys on our new members. He could be a 60 year old bearded, fisting paedo with soft hands for all you know. I use Joomla lots and although it's possibly the best cms, I've had more pleasant kicks in the bollocks than days on that fucking cunty cms. I do love it though, but like a wife - you kinda love it most of the time, if only through habit, but secretly want to kick fuck out of it and find something better. :) Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 18:48:00 John seems to have a habit of berating other people's websites. http://thetownend.com/index.php/topic,12756.msg659143.html#msg659143 Only if they are shit like these 2 clearly are. One of my pet hates is a shit website. There is just no need. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: Arriba on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 18:57:26 harsh.it's only just been set up hasn't it?
things take time to develop. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: yeo on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 19:35:03 jayohaitchenn is the internet version of Simon Cowell and that turns me on a little a bit.
Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: adje on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 19:38:08 I like it-its red and white with a clever hint of green

I do love it though, but like a wife - you kinda love it most of the time, if only through habit, but secretly want to kick fuck out of it and find something better. :) I haven't touched Joomla in quite a while, Drupal seems pretty popular now as well. Whilst it wasn't an issue for me the biggest problem I had with them is that they just weren't friendly enough for non-techie's, stuff like that really needs to be idiot proof to go mainstream. I don't go anywhere near PHP anymore unless I have to, more interested in Java - some pretty good open source stuff available though the extra hosting requirements push the cost up a fair bit and its a lot more complicated than PHP options. Title: Re: Please visit our new STFC site Post by: PetsWinPrizes on Thursday, May 28, 2009, 22:17:50 To go a little three pages ago on you, it's true I did used to run the Randy Robin in my youth. Graham Carter from the 'adver once wrote a nasty article about us, and we were banned from selling at CG, which is pretty uncool compared to BTN, who I seem to remember once received threatening phone calls from an ex STFC chairman.
