Title: Sacking a manager..Ipswich style.
Post by: leefer on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 21:39:37
Now ime not a great fan of Jim Magilton....but the way he got the sack,if the stories are true wont do them any favours...you beat your nearest rivals Norwich 3-2,get compasionate leave to look after his sick mother then get the sack via a phone call while doing so.
Meanwhile new supremo Clegg...whos he?...is bringin in that excuse of a human being Roy Keane in tomorow.

I wonder what Bobby Robson thinks of it all.

If (big word) that's true it's a very unprofessional way of going about it.  Cliché alert - nothing surprises me in football.

Assuming it's true, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Pretty harsh, at least wait until the old dear was better. Then text him.

Yeah Roy Keane is pathetic! A man of few principles! Would you say it to his face though?

Keane has a beard and likes his Dog more than he likes people.

I wish I could grow a Keane like Beard.

Roy Keane used to come into work every now and again and he came across quite shy in the real world.

Once he bought a Womack & Womack CD. FACTual information.

How a man who deliberatly goes out to maim another player becomes a manager is beyond me....brilliant player but is record at Sunderland was average.

At Sunderland he had phenomenal support from his board - too much to be honest. Then that American investor came in and asked to justify some of his signings and why there were so many players on the books and Keane went loco.

Under Keane, Sunderland assembled a very large and average squad (Rade Prica was the shittest player I've ever seen play in top flight football).

Despite a few departures in January (including Prica, they still have too many average players as their squad list suggests http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunderland_AFC

Thought the Magilton sacking was a tad brutal.  Putting the fact the man is a tosser aside he's not done to badly, certainly not enough to warrant a sacking.

I saw the tractor fuckers splashed a bit of cash a couple of seasons back but it wasn’t on the scale where they spent significantly more than anyone else.  I wonder where the hell they have got the delusions of grandeur that they’re better than a mid-table Chumpionship side?

As for Roy “he wanks his dog” Keane.  Can’t see it happening.

There is a bulldog who lives next door called Rocky.  I'll have a go in my lunch and post some pictures up later.

For the record I like Roy Keane and think he'll do a good job at the tractor boys.

I thought calling him an "excuse of a human being" was a little over the top, as someone telling me today they were "embarrassed to be a human" when they heard about the Jade Goody musical.

I know Magilton was a scummer. But he's probably too embaressed by them to talk about Oxford nowadays.

Its a brutal sacking. Couldnt even wait for the final 2 games of the season. Looks like he might have been chatting to Roy's agent for a while?

Looks more like the chairman wanted to raise his own profile a bit. Look at how much dosh Ive spent. Disloyal fans as well.

Keane is one of these British managers, who look great in the Championship (Keegan and Hoddle spring to mind). So actually I think it will work out for them.

I doubt it, Marcus Evans is more secretive than MI6.

I would guess that Jim Magilton already knew that he was being sacked when he went to go and see his mother.

Interestingly Ipswich as a town is smaller than Swindon, yet it is accepted that they are higher in the football pyramid than ourselves. There aren't that many professional football clubs anywhere near them, but then we have to go 40 miles west/east/north to find one near us.

It really makes you think doesn't it.

The fact that they won the UEFA Cup and had a decade in the top division under Sir Bobby probably helps too.

You mean he doesn't leave laptops with all of Ipswich's business plans on tube trains/in lapdancing clubs/insert other random place that fuckwit "I'm actually a civil servant but I have James Bond fantasies" types might leave national secrets here? It's not a high bar is it? :)
