My mate is borrowing my car whilst I am in India.

Cheaper than a loan

with fuck all to show at the end, unless you do lease/purchase but then the baloon payment makes it very dear

Only just. And with a loan you get to keep the car at the end.

All I know is shop around and play 1 off against another. Bloke at this office went from 640 down to 480 PM. I know that's a lot but I'm sure it will work it's way down into cheaper cars.

Try http://www.whatcar.com/search/leasing/

A mate leases a Beemer. Worked out about the same as depreciation would cost you, but that was based on figures a year or two ago, I'd imagine depreciation would have accelerated since ! The way he saw it, he wanted a new car and was earning decent money but didn't have enough capital to buy one.

If you go for it be vigilant in the obvious stuff. Mileage allowance/penalties, servicing liabilities, etc.

Oh and check out the mental Lings' Cars from Dragons Den fame. No idea if the prices are any good but the website is mental design.

Yes it is supposed to be like that, I think it's a marketing gimmick. She seems to be doing OK so I assume that the website and Dragons Den appearance worked.

Hahahahahahah, well here I am!!!! I am Ling! Take an aspirin PaulD!

Marketing gimmick? No, it's just me and my website. I live inside it, Batch. Thanks for the link.

The only Chinglish UK leasing company to actually pay attention to who visits their site! And I saw you lot of Swindon supporters on my site!

If you need a car to be lovely, safe (try crashing in that £1000 Mondeo and compare your - and your family's - injuries to a new one) and a bit more reliable then car leasing is brill. Of course it's more expensive than a £1000 Mondeo! Nits. )))) But them ManU tickets are more expensive than Swindon tickets :)

Look at what bargains there are at the moment. You pay 3 rentals in advance plus 23 rentals for a 2-year, and 35 rentals for a 3-year. Do you need to learn how to suck eggs?

To support your local people, I tell you about this:

A new VTEC metallic 138bhp Type-S Civic for less than £200 a month (like a type-R but slower), with free road tax and you will only need a small oil and filter service, full warranty, plus it supports the laid-off people in Swindon. 8.7 secs to 60 and 127mph and brand-new for £195 a month.

You rent, then walk away at the end. Plan and budget and know there will be no additional bills. Seriously, this is cheaper than a decent season ticket. Plus you get the new car smell, latest toys, anti skid, abs, and a good feeling about supporting local jobs.

Don't think I'm selling, I'm not. You can relax, I'm just putting you straight. My customers love me, I have over 1200 testimonials on my site, plus loads of fun stuff. For technical visitors, please note my suspension test movie. All those worries about return condition and excess mileage is rubbish, the excess on the Civic is about 4p/mile. You can't take a bus for that. Return condition is as a normal adult would expect a 2 or 3 year old car to be. If it was your own car (or bike!!!), you would not expect it to have big dings, dents and beaten up wheels.

Yes, Samdy Grey, you don't have equity, you don't own it, you are just paying for use. Like daily rental but for 2 or 3 years. But, most people who have bought a new car in the last 3-years have had (MUCH) higher payments and they are in NEGATIVE equity!!! Can anyone do maths?

I give you all gift as you are need patching up when you lose: Anyone wants a free small personal sealed first aid kit suitable for a bike, bagged in metallic pouch size of an instant meal pack, please email me with SWINDON FIRST AID KIT in the subject and your snail address. I will send with full Chinese first aid instructions. It is not suitable for death or Milwall situations.

Try and find another lease company that advertises legally (including VAT- the rest are committing criminal offence cheating you with ex-vat prices and hidden "document fees") and puts so much effort in.

Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I am bloody Ling! Go on, go mental with me for posting, but I am sure most here are adult enough to make up their own minds! Hehehe.

The woman's a marketing genius!

Only just. And with a loan you get to keep the car at the end.

But by the time I've paid the loan off, the car isn't worth as much anyway. For the same price a month I'd need a 5 year loan.

It's your choice, but I just see it as dead money.

If you're not fussy about what new car you drive it's worth shopping around for manufacturers own finance deals. Citreon are offering a number of models with 3 year 0% APR, no deposit deals at the moment, and Vauxhall and Peugot have had a few deals like that as well.

It's your choice, but I just see it as dead money.

In a way it is. I understand that, but having a loan and older car is the downside. But on the plus side, the car is yours.

Like with leasing, its a brand new upto date car, you have no worries with tax etc, but the car isn't yours.

Title: Re: Personal car leasing
Post by: LINGsCARS on Friday, March 13, 2009, 10:38:11
Samdy, buying a car IS dead money!!!!

That's why it is better not to take a loan or borrowing and just rent it and pay monthly.

A house is different because it appreciates (usually). Some other cars are different because they simply don't work out on lease. But, in the case of the cars I choose to promote (like these Honda Civics - everyone should be very pleased that Honda is making big efforts to move cars) these are so much cheaper than buying.

Of course you have to make sensible choice. Not everyone wants a new car. But the Civic type S is the same cost as buying LESS than 3 big macs each day (with no fries). This is a no-brainer. A brand new car for just over the price of a pack of fags a day.

It is so hard to argue with this.

Lumps, but if you are in Swindon, why not support your local factory, especially as the Civic is a good car!!!!

Over the past 90 days (3 mths) I have done 50 Civics and 23 Type R Civics. I do my best to promote cars made in the UK. If only more people made this effort, maybe the factory would be running!

Colin, of course I read your forum. But I don't know much about Swindon Town... should I? Chinese do not eat cheese, it is from the ass of a cow. What is scandal with Spacey? Dunno about that. :)

As cars depreciate rapidly, then it can work out fairly similar to buying a car on finance and then selling it 2 years later to fund the next one.  Cars are liabilities anyway.  Not sure I;d get anew car on leasing, go for nearly new.  The again, I wouldn't buy a new car either.  I quite like the idea of giving the car back to be honest.  They do nothing but suck money from your bank the longer you have them and I can't afford to keep replacing them.

In my sales mode :) I will suggest:

Getting a brand new car every 2 or 3 years means... everything is new (tyres, brakes etc). This is obvious, but is overlooked, it means that running costs are virtually nil apart from fuel and insurance for the first year, then you need a very small service (not needed to use franchise dealer usually).

Then you have full warranty for any repairs.

Then you have the safety argument. If you have wife or kids and they have a car crash, latest model is always best. Plus will have anit-skid to avoid some crashed. This stuff is really important. When it happens it can change tragedy into injury. Important if it is your human relations.

Then, you have free road tax for the contract.

Then you have the ability to budget for the 2 or 3 years and know exactly to almost the last penny what the car will cost you. This means you can use the rest of your money more effectively.

On some cars, the silly costs of the lease outweighs the benefits, BUT when you can get this Type S Civic for £195 (inc VAT) a month, it is a no-brainer.

Some people will always think they can buy and sell cars and make money, and spend all that time in Autotrader and dealers bargaining. Trouble is, if I know this is the absolute base cost, unless you can be so good to be able to move £35m of cars yourself, it is very hard to convince me you know better. If you do know better, you should really do this for a living. :)

Patently cheese even tastes like it comes from a cows ass. The best you get in China is that happy cow stuff.

Grubby, negotiate away... as long as we end up at the advertised price. :) Why do I negotiate with a set of slightly mental football supporters from Swindon? You think I am mad?

Suttonred, you could have one for each time Swindon Town win. Two cars come in handy :)

Spacey the Japanese... that's great, I'm so pleased. Nothing more I enjoy than causing offence to Japanese. You make nice cars though.

Hahahahahahahaah, why boot me? I'm really not sure what is so wrong with trying to sell cars which are really thin margin but which help safeguard the jobs of many Swindon people. It will be a brave mod who gets involved here. I bite. :)

Maybe someone should tell the football club to start promoting these cars direct to fans. I will actually do them at cost by giving £100 cashback (my profit margin) on each car to either a) the renter or b) the club's charity. Honda Civics to help the factory. Is anyone on here from management or can make that decision?

Ling you should buy a ticket/ lots of tickets in the 'name the stratton bank' competition and you'll get some sponsorship out of it.

Alternatively you could sponsor Swindon's very own David Beckham in Michael Pook and get your name in the match programme each week! Don't lease him a car though, he's not very responsible!
