Title: Natures Great events Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 21:28:28 Better than the Brits. I love nature programmes. So what if that sounds gay.
A salmon can jump the equvalent of a human jumping a 4 storey building. Title: Re: Natures Great events Post by: spacey on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 21:30:07 Yeah, but can a salmon play the theme tune to Dad's army on the Kazoo? Can it fuck!
Title: Re: Natures Great events Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 23:15:26 They probably could if they weren't so knackered, that was an awesome program. The shot of 20 or so bears sat at a waterfall waiting for them is one of the best i've seen.

Title: Re: Natures Great events Post by: SwindonTartanArmy on Thursday, February 19, 2009, 10:04:12 not gay in the slightest, I love nature programmes. Anyone see the Darwin/evolution one the other week presented by Attenborough?
There needs to be more stuff liek this on TV. Cut out all the brain sapping, mong creating reality TV bollocks and make proper TV programmes again! Title: Re: Natures Great events Post by: janaage on Thursday, February 19, 2009, 12:48:49 I saw the polar bear one on BBC1 last week, amazing bit of TV that was. Love the nature programmes!! Superb way to spend the license fee.
Title: Re: Natures Great events Post by: STFCBird on Thursday, February 19, 2009, 13:17:32 David Attenborough is my hero. i'd love to have him over for dinner, to me he is the most interesting man on this planet and I love his programmes. When he dies a lot of people will miss out on learning about Nature.
Last night was brilliant when they showed the camera man trying to get shots of the bears under the water. Even though you think my god those salmon are stupid it makes you see that everthing serves it's purpose in life. Even Sussex. Evolution isn't something you have to believe in, in fact as a scientific theory it's rigorously tested constantly to check it's model fits what we observe in the real world. Understanding what it describes and what in allows you to predict would be a leap for most people. I suppose you can use the word belief, but you wouldn't say you "believe in gravity" would you? Well you might, but it would be odd. And "theory" in science is as good as it gets in science, it doesn't mean "might be true" as in the everyday use of theory. I was gonna say something similar...when people say they don't believe in evolution I ask them if they believe in the colour red. It exists, as does evolution, it's not a case of believing in or not. And clearly we are not desended from monkeys, but share a common ancestor. An interesting fact is that, so far, in space exploration we have not found a single element in space, that is also not found here on earth. |
