Title: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 13:08:35 I just found my old graphical calculator.
I quite like y = (cos x)x2 http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/flammableben/cosxxx.gif Proper cartesian maths graphs please, none of your silly bar charts or anything. Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 13:13:12 I quite like this asymptote f (x) = 1/x

Good choice their reg, that would probably be my second choice. Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 13:19:12 No it isnt a pi chart - Its a velygraph or something

it's not a proper graph anyway Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 13:24:43 boooooooooooo yes it is!! dont you dare delete it from this thread!
Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: Reg Smeeton on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 13:28:22 Always been fascinated by helices...so this helical graph of wave motion is good, drawing a mystic nautilus is also fun..
http://www.csulb.edu/~rdayers/Kinetic_Waves/MATLAB%20(Damped_Helical_Wave).gif Whilst on the the subject of the helix in nature fB you might be interested to know, that in The Art Gallery atm is an exhibition of the later work of Henri Matisse, which includes L'Escargot....nah not the fucking horse that won the Grand National. Isn't that the french for snail? What art gallery? The one in the museum on bath road? Or is there one in teh art centre as well? You can get some interesting graphs using the y axis to plot the imaginary part of complex numbers, we're moving onto fractal territory there. Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Much better to punt on the lot named after the Graf Zeppelin Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 15:13:40 http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/flammableben/wibbly.gif

Better than a straight line I suppose. For the record, I like bar charts. :) Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 15:31:36 x2+y2 = 4 is a nice graph but I can't get my graph programme to draw it.
Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 15:34:11 well not both halves anyway.
y= (4-x2)1/2 is easy enough. Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 15:57:12 http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d35/flammableben/smiles.gif
I cheated by using the negatives, silly graph program will only ever show one of the y solutions for each x. Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: nevillew on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 16:08:05 Does that make you a graphic artist fb ?

Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: reeves4england on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 16:37:44 The Edgeworth box is a cracker. Not a graph in the sense of those above, but still a graph.

Title: Re: What's your favourite graph? Post by: flammableBen on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 17:11:11 I'm not too young at all. Yeah I remember using it a few times.
I only remember using the little programmable robot thing a few times when I was probably 7 or 8, making it go round cones or chairs. I remember doing stuff on the computer drawing interpreter thingy even at commonweal, before all the computers had internet and stuff. We had to make it draw a church or something. Mine had a fully animated cars going outside the front which would crash now and again. I just found a 3d turtle drawing library for java. I'm going to have a play.
