Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, January 25, 2009, 17:06:34 Is there an mp3 player which when you plug it in lets you just use it as a removable harddrive without having to install any proprietary software bollocks? Preferably one which looks nice with a decent screen and support for all the video and sound jobbies? Maybe even with some sort of TV out connection so you could watch all the videos on a telly if you were round a mates house or something.
Not that I could afford such a thing, but it would be nice to know if it was out there. Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: santasdead on Sunday, January 25, 2009, 17:31:13 had 3 zens in the space of a year, all broke:) my ipod is alot better.

Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: flammableBen on Sunday, January 25, 2009, 17:35:24 Really? I presumed macs would come with itunes built in nowadays.
EDIT: Built in bad choice of phrase, meh you know what I mean. Preinstalled by default or something. Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: JPC82 on Monday, January 26, 2009, 09:54:33 u can buy a iPod to tv converter for about £20

Its not a mac - we have internet security (Symantec I think?)and I know its windows but dont htink its XP Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: @MacPhlea on Monday, January 26, 2009, 10:33:44 It sounds like your firewall is blocking your connection since the update - your firewall may see this as a different piece of software if the version has changed (unusual, but then this is Windows...)..
Go to Security Manager in Control Panel and turn the firewall off temporarily then try to connet - if it does then you know that the firewall is the issue, if it doesn't then you know it must be something else... that's where my knowledge of compooters finishes I'm afraid... Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Monday, January 26, 2009, 10:48:34 ahhhhhh you know I thought it might be something to do with that as I remember when I upgraded the Ipod software something flashed up from Symantec!!
I had no idea how to reverse what I had done though so Thanks my dear - Ill try it later Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, January 26, 2009, 10:50:51 Is there an mp3 player which when you plug it in lets you just use it as a removable harddrive without having to install any proprietary software bollocks? Maybe the Archos players too. iRivers do, I had one ages ago, just pop up as a drive, same as a flash memory. Title: Re: Can someone clever please help me with my Ipod Post by: jonny72 on Monday, January 26, 2009, 18:03:40 u can buy a iPod to tv converter for about £20 I used to connect my iPod to the TV all the time, quality was pretty good. All of the video iPods have a TV out, you just need the cable to do it which as JPC82 says, costs about £20. Well worth it as its like having a video player in your pocket wherever you go. I need to get a new cable now as they changed the connection on current iPods / iPhones, which Apple have a nasty habit of doing all the time. |
