Lorry to Ipswich later today,four and a half hours trip there..tip the load then probably four hours back...very loyal fans are Ipswich as indeed there rivals Norwich are,there crowds are amazingly high..drop off at the docks and you still get that feeling of tradition and community there and that leads me onto the time i went to Ipswich and the guy unloading me had a Norwich scarf on..then he started waving his hands around in a circular movement at a rapid rate of knots at the same time he was making weird whooshing sounds..i was alarmed to say the least...finally he slowed down came over and pointing at his Norwich scarf whispers i gotta beez carfull roundz ere with this ere scarf on ize...not that bad surely i says,with this the arms go mental again and the whooshing gets louder...is for i he says...ime an ex tractor fan!

Driving to Norwich is a bit of a pain in the arse after a while though, the last hour is a bit shit.

When doing Oxford-Norwich or the other way round, I always used to wait until about 10pm to set off, so as to have the roads to myself. You can do it in three hours flat at night, instead of four in the day.

I wish we were in the same league as Ipswich or Norwich, I've got lots of friends around there.

My girlfriend is from Swaffham, about 45 minutes from  Norwich. Nice place, the drive is a bit of an arse but its simple at least.

But, as she will inevitably read this, I should point out shes not originally from Norfolk :D .

Norwich and Ipswich are teams that each represent a whole county.  You get that feeling when you go there.

Rural Norfolk is brilliant.  Big skies, beautiful villages.  Only in my mid 30s, but I came away from my first visit there feeling that I understood a little bit more about what life must have been like in the 1950s.  (And I mean that in a good way.)

Wherabouts Adje?  I lived there for 14 years, moved from Swindon in 1973!  Came back homesick!!

Places like Holt and Cromer are nice, if you can avoid the locals and the tourists.

I lived opposite the boozer on Larkman Lane in Norwich for a year once.  Apparantly the estate round the back is known as "Monkey Island". Proper shithole.  Other than that, its a nice city and and is surrounded by lots of beautiful places to visit.

The summer of '95 was fucking hot, the booze flowed and the women were easy...them were the days!

 With all due respect I was alive in the 50's and it was fuck all like East Angular, I've been around most of it and it's right queer country...might as well be Kazakhstan as far as I'm concerned, no wonder Ronnie came home.

There are indeed some strange people around there, especially outside the cities.

Now I walk down Commercial Road Reg and see all the "immigrants" hanging about I wonder if I did the right thing!  I remember Manchester Road being fiull of West Indians, they've all been pushed out now!!

The reason you see all the immigrants in Commercial Road, Ronnie, is because they're working for the agencies, waiting for vans to take them to the chicken slaughterers, and other such fine work which the more indigenous populace don't fancy doing.

I can vouch for that; my mate used to live in Monkey Island. its not too bad considering the density of chavs.
