Title: Baby on board car signs
Post by: Piemonte on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 12:58:41
WHY?????

Why do I care that the person in front of me has a baby in their car? Do they think it will stop me from deliberatly ramming them?

I fucking hate them. I might start manufacturing them though. As every cunt with a kid seems to have one these days I'm sure theres money to be made. some examples:

"little cunt on board"
"Please dont ram me I've got kids you know"
"Please excuse my poor driving, these little shits in the back are doing my head in"

The original purpose for those were to alert rescue services that there was a 'baby on board' in the event of an accident. Now they are pointless

The 'spin-offs' such as 'Princess on board' annoy me. :x

Especially when you overtake and there's a fat munter driving who's hobby as a child was obviously to chase parked cars.

Apologies in advance for those of you (or friends, wives or girlfriends) who have a sign and are not aesthetically challenged.

Isn't Andre the giant dead now? :(

He was a legend, WWF was great back then.

Andre the giant was also in the film the Princess Bride, not surprisingly he played a giant, although his name wasn't Andre.

Dude that's the biggest load of shit I have ever read, non Gary Stanley post anyway.  So you're saying when there was a nasty crash the firemen would get the parent out, start packing their stuff up until one of the eagle eyed firemen shouted out

"Wait!!!  There's a baby on board sign, we gotta go back in!!!".  Don't think so.

They were designed to stop aggressive driving.

Title: Baby on board car signs
Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 14:32:04
Well they originated in the US so I guess they would need signs to point stuff out! It was meant if the parent was dead, and they couldn't see/hear the child

Title: Baby on board car signs
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 14:35:12
So in a serious crash, a piece of paper dangling from the intact back windscreen would be used to tell qualified, experienced firemen that there was a baby in the back.  Not even yanks would be that stoopid.

Title: Baby on board car signs
Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 14:36:16
Or if the young'n got thrown out of the vehicle, so they could check the surrounding area. They are POINTLESS now though because they are not used for this purpose and also people don't take the sign down when there is no kid on board

Title: Baby on board car signs
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, 14:40:26
So is that why Diana died, because she didn't have a "princess on board" sign hanging up?  They just got Dodi out the car and didn't realise she was in there.

I have to say McSporran, keep your See you Jimmy hat on, but I think the Piemaster General is absolutely correct about the origins of the Baby on Board sticker things.

I saw the funniest thing ever the other day. I saw a beaten up 20 year old Ford Escort and on the bumper it said: "My other car's a Porsche!"

I swear it's true.

Funny as fuck.

The first few Wrstlemanias were suck-fests but from about WM5 to WM12 were ace. My all time favourites are Randy Savage and Bret 'the Hitman' Hart.  8) Giving his cool as fuck glasses to some geeky kid before every match was supercool.

On a side note, Owen Hart had the most public death. Falling from a flying-fox type fly-wire during an extra spectacular entrance to the ring.... ouch.

I just had a conversation that went from people going through black holes in space going back in time turning into monkeys so there's loads of monkeys just accumulating by black holes in space sitting around drinking tea, to the most intelligent animal in the world, to monkeys thumbs, to parrots detecting gas leaks, to baby giraffes being born just as a long neck so they bounce around like kangaroos to dolphins who're the most intelligent animal in the world so decided to just live in the sea talking in cockney accents to appear normal and let the rest of us get on with it and some other stuff. It was interesting.

That probably doesn't make much sense but I just wanted to write it down as it may come in useful in the future. Feel free to ignore this.

Best Wrestlemania was in the early 90's when Hulk Hogan was gettin his ass kicked by The Undertaker (I think).  Anyway it was about a year after the Ultimate Warrior had left WWF after having a break down following Jake the Snkae chucking him in the snake pit.

Anyway Hogan's about to get beaten when, the lights go down, on comes the Warriors music he comes running through the crowd and saves Hogan, brilliant entertainment.

OST - Definately an ironic level i would think, certianly for me anyway.

The older stuff was just quality.  I remember once years ago when cable had the little boxes on the screen showing all the tv channels in black&white.  I watched a whole wrestlemania on there cause my dad would not order it for me.  Those were the days.

I think it's impossible not be a Hulkamaniac, the man is a living legend.  if I ever became the super rich chairman of Swindon I'd asked Hogan to appear in our last match of the season.  Before the match he'd do the hand to the ear thing to each side of the ground, then he'd rip his shirt off, old skool styley.  Then he could kill Rocky Robin.

He's still about wrestling isnt he Hogan....

I remember a few years back he came back to the WWF and they had him wrestle The Rock at WM. By then I wasnt that interested in it anymore but it was Hogan back at WM!!!!

Rock was supposed to be the good guy and fan favourite and Hogan was supposed to be the bd guy. They locked up and Hogan pushed Rock to the floor then flexed his muscles, the place went fucking nuts....I have never heard a place go so crazy before....

Back to the subject then:

Baby on board, how I've adored,
That sign on my car's windowpane
A bounce in my step; loaded with pep,
'Cause I'm driving in the carpool lane.

Call me a square; friend, I don't care
That little yellow sign can't be ignored
I'm telling you it's mighty nice
Each trip's a trip to paradise
With my baby on board.
