I've just found out I've got rats in my decking - big buggers. I'd lose if I tried to arm wrestle them out so has anyone got any ideas. I could put down the poison but the blooody things will just rot and stink. Their in and out points aren't big enough to send a terrier down.
As UB 40 sang "Got a rat in me deckin' what am i gonna do".
Any ideas welcomed.

Pay out and get a professional pest catcher in Chalkie...will save you lots of hassle and maybe money in the long run.

Id ring the Council they'll do it properly.

I'm terrified of rats.

I used to see rats quite a lot around the halls at uni. Southampton has quite a big problem with rats. Was fairly disgusting really.

I can borrow a tea urn if that is any help ?

I'm paranoid when putting the rubbish out at night at work, that a rat the size of a small dog is waiting just the other side of the bin lid to attack me.

My wife seems to think I should do it. I'm more than happy to pay out. I don't fancy my chances. I got rid of mice I had in my house but these buggers are different league. Thanks for the link Sie Pie -I'll have a look.
I did think of asking a family of Scousers around for a barbecue and tell them I'd ran out of meat.

My biggest fear is one coming round the u bend when im having a poo.Ive seen it happen on telly and never been able to relax on the toilet since then.

The council charge about £30 for a pest controller to come out, but he will probably just put some bait/poison down for them. Cost does not include removal of dead ones. Rat traps cost about £12 for 2 in homebase and its alot quicker.

One would be enough, two just to get the job done quicker ... they are ace rat catchers.

101 good film, but give those rats a sporting chance, that many Dals would make a lot of shit.

A friend of mine moved into a house and found rats, im pretty sure when she called the council they were really helpfull and did follow ups etc because of the problem in Swindon... all included in the price, i could be wrong though but worth checking them out.

At work this morning i saw the biggest bastard, we thought it was a rabbit! The big dustbin man let out a rather loud n girly squeek then refused to empty any more bins, he made his mate do it. It was funny at the time but i wont be going out there again any time soon.... wont be eating anything from the indian either as it went straight up into thier bin which is right next to thier kitchen door they have open all the time.

A few tinnies of pedigree chum and an afternoon with my ratting rifle and I'll clear out the majority of them...  Get loads of them round my way...

There's lots of rats up on Fleming Way too. On a wet day they'll come out of their holes on the banked bit and scurry up to the pavement.

nope its the one by Peatmoor lagoon... do not eat from the chinese either... ive seen some horrible goings on there and called trading standards on more than one occassion. The chipper however is so clean, you could eat a portion off of the floor.

well i used to eat in there up until a few weeks back when i was working and one of the guys came into the shop for something, i asked him which way he wanted to go as i was stood there with a heavy box and he called me a slut! A slut i tell you!!! Well young Ash i dont think i need to tell you what happened next... they are now all banned from my shop. They will prob spit in anything i order now, but i dont want rat anyways so its ok.

I've had many a takeaway from Lee's oh dear won't be going there again! 

Obviously not that good a job...or you'll not have had to use them twice!

I'm wondering if they cleared up the mess after the bloody job.

Went down to Homebase this morning and picked up some rat killer. Just put it all down and blocked their escape holes and bricked them in. I'll leave it a few days and then investigate. Hopefully I won't need Fred's tea urn or borrow anyone's dalamtions or Triseros ratting rifle which presumably is used more in the country than a semi in Stratton.
I'm gonna fix that rat.
